GOP Rep: Obama Reluctant To Say ‘Radical Islam’ Because He Went To A Muslim School
By Brian Carey, February 5, 2015.
This is red meat for both the left and right, but we think the man has a point.
During a recent interview, Republican Congressman Mo Brooks suggested that President Obama won’t use the phrase “radical Islam” because he attended a Muslim school when he was young.
The fact of the matter is that Obama did, in fact attend a Muslim school in his youth. However, that school wasn’t a madrassa, as some have suggested.
But it didn’t have to be a madrassa to influence the way that he thinks about Islam. That’s the line that Brooks seemed to adopt when he said that the President’s refusal to say “radical Islam” is “probably an unfortunate byproduct of the days when he was in a Muslim school.”
According to the congressman, it’s likely that the President was taught that Islam is a peaceful religion and it’s helped form his opinion of it. Now, according to Brooks, Obama has “bought into it to such a degree that he does not seem to recognize that there are elements of Islam that are very violent.”
Liberals will poke fun at Brooks for this, but we think his argument is rooted in some level of reality.
