A shooter fatally shot one student at a suburban Portland, Oregon, high school Tuesday morning, authorities said. The gunman is also dead.
Police said the situation at Reynolds High School in Troutdale was "stabilized" an hour after initial calls came in at 8:07 a.m. PT (11:07 a.m. ET).
The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office didn't immediately say if there were victims or the extent of any injuries.
A number of emergency vehicles surrounded the school, and the facility was placed on lockdown. Once secure, SWAT teams moved from room to room to take students out safely, reported NBC affiliate KGW.
It could take police up to two hours to clear the school and get parents reunited with their children, according to the Reynolds School District.
