IRS Hearing: Over 100 Groups Waited More Than Year For Word On Tax StatusActing IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel and Treasury Inspector General J. Russell George could not give Congress an exact number of how many groups have been waiting to hear an update on their tax exempt application for over two years. Both confirmed that some groups are still on the waiting list, over 100 was the estimation. Werfel told Congress that groups being forced to wait for more than two years is "unacceptable."
