Quote
A former Chesterfield County sheriff’s captain was convicted this week of a misdemeanor charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Donny Lewis Dixon, 40, of Ashland, had been facing a felony charge of distributing child pornography.

On Wednesday, Dixon entered a written agreement with prosecutors in Hanover County General District Court where he agreed to be convicted on the lesser misdemeanor charge.

The defense attorney also said there was no document or image produced during the proceedings that showed his client possessed anything illegal on his computer files.

So why take the plea then?

Because there is other evidence that would support the charges at trial.
