You like the way things are? Then do nothing about immigration. Smokescreen that! That's all Cruz is proposing, he can be a one man parade marching in DC, Cornyn even agrees to talk about immigration along with persons like Lee and Paul but we all know, Cruz is the one true conservative.

Keep the status quo is all one is saying, National Interest is saying Cruz is pandering to the hard right, maybe.

Cornyn is a RINO sell out that is no better than McConnell.  I'm hoping he's primaried the next time he runs so I can vote for his challenger.

The only smokescreen being blown where the immigration debate is concerned is by the GOPe.  And right now their plan is to the left of what Obama tried to do for 8 years.

The sad thing is watching so many so called Conservatives get willfully suckered into thinking anything involving a pathway and chain migration for people who broke federal immigration laws is the only or the best way forward.

Within a generation, we'll probably see all the border states go blue.  California is way gone. New Mexico is pretty blue, despite the current governor and narrow win by Bush 43 in 2004.  Arizona isn't far behind with people like Flake and McCain considered Republicans.

This is why, it was a good idea, to try to turn Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin and Iowa all red, if a bulwark of states can be built up, then, we could see the SW lapse into being blue territory though I will believe it when we see it. NM, Nevada and Colorado all voted for Hillary.

And you seem to be excessively challenged in the facts department on this.

And excuses for inaction are like @ssholes....you know how the rest of that goes.  And what you are giving is an excuse for inaction.

What you need to come to reality about is that unless we the people push and cajole and do whatever we can do to get these Congress critters off their collective backsides nothing will get done.

All of your pie in the sky hopes for a Conservative majority won't amount to crap unless those we voted for are properly motivated.  As long as they can keep kicking the can down the road...as long as people like you continue with your mamby pamby "if only" BS they aren't going to do a thing and laugh at all of us while they do it.

I agree with you about the people needing to be motivated.  But I think they are motivated.  We'll see how that translates into the next couple of elections.

I am not namby pamby; I'm a realist.  I want our leaders to take a firm stand against legitimizing illegals in any way.  I think the public is behind this.

I don't know exactly what you are proposing.  It sounds more like whining.  Tell me what exact steps you think should happen.

Your proposals are just as pie in the sky as mine are.  We both know we cannot accomplish a conservative mission without the people pushing it.  Trump needs to know this.

He's pretty good at assessing the mood of the people.  He needs to use that.

If only you didn't know it all and yet know nothing.

Facts are facts.   We both know we cannot count on this slim and weak majority we have.  Our best option is place keeping until we can get more conservatives elected.

  • I don't believe in Trump anymore, he's an illusion
He looks like he's campaigning, let's see, 1,000,000 with a path to citizenship continue to come in per Cruz's view because of chain migration, any dreamer won't be able to vote for 12 years per the bill being offered in congress.
And they should be allowed to vote, why? If they want to vote there is already a valid path in place, go back to where you came from, apply, get in line and wait, after they are legally admitted into the United States and wait the proper period fulfilling all requirements they can apply for citizenship. Why should they be given what others waited and worked hard for following the rules?

Well, @corbe  that was one of those primary quotes and far more true than some of Trump's primary quotes.

But I don't think Cruz would say that now.  I think he is as pleasantly surprised as many of us at how well Trump has done so far.

I don't think Trump has the passion or knowledge on the immigration issue that Cruz has, and that's why Cruz is showing up now.  It's vital that we not cave on this issue.

Some of the Trumpers are giving Trump the benefit of the doubt on this ... thinking that he is dangling out a plan he knows won't pass, so he can get credibility for what he really intends to do.

I'm hoping that is the case.  I don't trust Trump as much as I trust Cruz, but Trump is 'at the wheel' as you say, so I am hoping his mind is right on this.

I understand the fear of the illegal vote or even the legal Mexican vote, but I think it is over-rated.  Regular Mexicans citizens are not that interested in either voting or having a bunch of illegals here.  The illegals cannot vote unless some sort of fraud is committed.

There will be democrat buses waiting to take both Mexicans and Blacks to the polls, you can bet on that, but it won't amount to a majority.

Excellent Points, All @Emjay I was somewhat Jaded this afternoon (after 2 hours with my Trump loving Family) when I posted that.  I've since departed Planet Cruz and returned to Earth, so all is better.

Trump had the right idea then and I hope he holds onto it.  The fact is that nothing can be done right now because of the slim majorities in the Senate.  But what can be done is put the right ideas forward and stick to them until we're able to get a bigger majority.

Right,  888high58888  This is one can which needs kicked down the road till 2018 at least.

Ted will not lose his seat.  Trump needs to listen to him and listen hard.
IMO Trump will not be interested in what Lyin' Ted has to say because President Trump does not hero worship the son of JFK's assassin.

@corbe  Well, bless your heart, baby.  I have a liberal son-in-law BUT he comes over within seconds to help me with any repairs or anything else.  He takes me to the beach. He fixes the car.  I don't care if he votes for Godzilla but I definitely do not discuss politics with him.

My son and his wife are also liberals.  They are coming over in a few weeks to go whale watching.  I will be very surprised if anything political is brought up.  We just don't do that.  They are the best people in the world.  My son is so special.

My daughter is conservative but she is like me.  We don't discuss it.  What's the point?

I am going to assume you meant regular American Citizens of Mexican Heritage. And my response is yes and no, I spent quite a few years employing Hispanics and they over all would fall into your view, especially after a generation or two. I have also worked the construction trade here in California for quite a few years and I think, but maybe not, you might be surprised at what is said around the stupid gringos when it's assumed they can't understand.
No I am still of the opinion that if they let the DACA's or any others have amnesty they don't just get voting rights handed to them as easy as waiting a few more years. My parents, the legal Hispanics I employed that entered the right way and everyone else that followed the law deserve no less. I don't believe you can just uproot millions of illegals and send them back home, but I sure as heck don't believe in rewarding them either.

Cruz was early on in the Bush cabal for open immigration, he may well be on the cheap labor express again for big agriculture.

No, Tom, he wasn't.  You must have him mistaken for another Cruz.

Preach it, Ted.

And disappointed in Brian because that little worm kept looking so troubled at being confronted by common sense.

Its been so long since I have watched.  What a bunch of liberal loosers on FOX News.  And a yuuuuge hooray to Ted Cruz.
AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.
