
This kind of reminds me of a road in my hometown.
Back in the 1950s and 1960s, there was this cutlery business, and their driveway was a narrow alley. Many decades after the cutlery closed (most of it burnt down a couple of years ago), another business opened up behind it, but they needed to widen the alley a bit.
The problem was that there was a telephone pole right on the edge of the alley. So they just forged the extra lane around it. The end result?

A road with a telephone pole in the middle of it.
