Simply put, in order for donations to be exempt from federal taxes, they must go into a 501(C) account.

There was not enough time for the Trump organization to set up a 501(C) specifically for this charity event. So, the money for veterans groups will be distributed through Trump's 501(C) foundation.

And as I said elsewhere, a multibillionaire doesn't need to steal pocket money on a nationally televised charity for wounded veterans.

===================================

That will be very challenging for a person with GOPe blinders on to understand.

"“For too long, self-important and self-appointed ‘pundits’ have run roughshod over the grassroots community, the political process, and have been given an out-sized role in the democratic process,” a statement released by VSA reads. “This system of ring-kissing and permission-asking at every level of the political spectrum has resulted in the wholesale disenfranchisement of large swaths of the American electorate. It is ruining the nation.”"

Needed repeating.

I have no issues with him skipping the debate. That's his decision. I certainly have no problems with him raising money for the causes of Veterans. But what doesn't sit right with me is his showboating, and holding this self-admiration event  simultaneously as the most important GOP debate of this election, purposely trying to destroy viewership.  Then publically saying, "because I won't be there nobody is going to watch, nobody.

Nope, what is his doing is saying "Ok Fox, not only am I not going to play by your "stack the deck so we can ambush you moderators, I am going to actively go to war against you."

That is leadership. That is changing the parameters instead of engaging the enemy on their ground where they have all the advantages.

 Blindly walking into a staged media ambush, because you are afraid of the political cost you will pay if you don't, isn't leadership.

What does it say that an "Honest John" he has taken to habitually lying because he doesn't like a candidate?

List of the 22 Vets groups that took part last night. I will take DAV word over the snarks of internet trolls.

Point out what you claim.  Otherwise, this is defamation pure and simple.

Which is what many of his followers do not understand. Trump is willing to do anything to advance himself (not his country or others) no matter how unsavory and wrong it may be.

There was nothing "unsavory and wrong" about Trump's decision.  It was refreshing and an answer to a prayer from most Republicans, especially those leaning right.  But apparently the Republican anger against the MSM's control of our candidates and our message must have been a tantrum, not a genuine principle.

Republicans finally have someone who is fearless and unbowed before the corrupt MSM, and Republicans call this behavior "unsavory (??) and wrong".   I honestly do not get this.  Part of the problem may be many Republicans have forgotten how to recognize an alpha male--so let me help.  An alpha male is known by his : •Loyalty. •Intellect. •Passion. •Vision. •Unpredictability. •Patience  •Assertiveness and LEADERSHIP.  Or, in a nutshell:  Donald J. Trump.

Thank heavens society hasn't neutered all of them.    :smokin:
