A dad who tried to kill his baby has been jailed for 35 years.

Rhydian Lynne Rhys Jamieson, 28, known as Rhys, left the child with "catastrophic injuries" following the attack in Cwm Cou, Ceredigion, in January 2025.
 
The baby, who cannot be named, was found lying face down under a duvet and alone.

Jamieson had left his baby after the attack, and texted the mother: "I'm sorry for what I've done," Swansea Crown Court heard. He also sent friends messages including: "I'm scared. I think I've killed someone," and: "I'm going to be on the news."

Jamieson, who had previously admitted the offence, was sentenced on Monday.

Dads are supposed to be, first and foremost, protectors of their baby girls. I don't 'get it', I don't want to 'get it'... **nononono*

He won't last long in prison; certainly not long enough to finish out his sentence.

Hard to say, these days.
I did a prison ministry event last weekend. One of the guys in our group was in for killing his ex-girlfriend and then going upstairs and killing his two kids, ages 4 and 5. He is sentenced to life without parole, and he has been inside for 12 years now.

That amazes me. Generally Pedos and Child killers die very quickly.
