Feels Like We're on the Deck of the Titanic As Zohran Mamdani Holds Overwhelming Lead in NYC Mayoral Race

Sometimes one can’t help but wonder, what were the passengers on the Titanic thinking as they realized that the unsinkable ship was actually going down and they were not going to be miraculously saved by a passing boat? Their first thought must have been, “I’ve got to get off this damn thing." As we know, a certain number were able to get disembark onto lifeboats and survive—but a whole lot more were left standing on the deck looking out at the freezing ocean, knowing this was the end.
I imagine that’s how a lot of New Yorkers are feeling these days.
Despite saying that he would go after the Big Apple’s wealthy, that he’s not particularly concerned about crime, and that he refuses to condemn the loaded phrase “globalize the intifada,” one of the most far-left politicians in America to make it this far—Democrat Socialist Zohran Mamdani—is looking like he’s virtually a shoo-in to be the next mayor of the United States’ most populous city.
That is, according to a new poll, at least:
Zohran Mamdani has opened a commanding lead in the race for mayor of New York City, buoyed by support for his affordability platform and by the splintered opposition, according to a new survey by The New York Times and Siena University.
The poll found that 46 percent of likely voters currently planned to choose Mr. Mamdani, the Democratic nominee, in a four-way race. His support spans racial and ethnic groups but is especially strong among young and highly educated voters.
