Go into the light, Carol Ann.  There is peace in the light.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

The best part is that Carter was never an engineer, much less a nuclear one.  He was a physics major.

The Department of Energy was justified by the gas lines that Jimmy Carter created with his asinine price ceiling on domestic oil production.  Instead of the government (that cause the problem to begin with) getting the hell out of the way, Jimmy Carter devoted an entire new bureaucracy dedicated to stifling domestic energy production.   From blocking new nuclear plants, to regulating coal plants to the point of closure, to micromanaging the domestic oil business, Carter's Department of Energy was there.

The Department of Energy needs to be carved back by at least three-quarters with the remainder rolled into the Department of the Interior where it belongs.

Two more departments that need to be on the chopping block are HUD and Agriculture.

Also don't forget that the DOE is the successor agency to the original Atomic Energy Commission.

Democrats and left-wing ideologues are in a panic over Trump's stated plans to use the federal government to pressure removal of trans ideology, DEI and CRT from American public schools, and to ban trans players (males) in girls' sports.

For more than a decade, the DNC and Democrats have institutionalized wokeness as a guiding principle for policy-making, even when it counters evidence-based research and is controversial and unpopular.

Many teachers emboldened by the capture of public education and unions boast on social media about how they indoctrinate students on social and political issues.

I see housing as the big crisis in the next 5 years, and government needs to get out of the way in that as well. But it's driving people into poverty. Deportations will help.
