The White House on Wednesday announced it is developing the first national strategy to counter Islamophobia in the United States, amid backlash from many Muslim Americans over its support for Israel.

“President Biden ran for office to restore the soul of our nation. He is unequivocal: There is no place for hate in America against anyone. Period,” press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement.

The strategy will be a joint effort led by the Domestic Policy Council and the National Security Council to “counter the scourge of Islamophobia and hate in all its forms,” she said. The announcement is part of Biden’s 2022 directive to coordinate on efforts to counter Islamophobia, antisemitism and related forms of bias and discrimination.

“For too long, Muslims in America, and those perceived to be Muslim, such as Arabs and Sikhs, have endured a disproportionate number of hate-fueled attacks and other discriminatory incidents,” Jean-Pierre said, mentioning the murder of a 6-year-old Muslim boy last month in Illinois. ...

Senior Biden-Harris administration officials present at the listening session included: Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff, White House Domestic Policy Advisor Ambassador Susan Rice, Deputy Homeland Security Advisor Joshua Geltzer, U.S. Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom Rashad Hussain, and Office of Public Engagement Director Stephen Benjamin. Also present were numerous other government officials and staff including President Biden’s newly appointed Muslim Liaison, Mazen Basrawi.  ...

The American Muslim community leaders began the session with three overarching asks:

    The Biden-Harris Administration create a comprehensive national strategy to combat Islamophobia;
    The President and other U.S. officials speak out about the problem, not just when in the company of Muslims, but to the American people at-large and highlight the enriching contributions of American Muslims and other minority communities; and
    The White House’s Domestic Policy Council engage with the American Muslim community in a sustained manner on specific ways to counter Islamophobia at all levels of government and society.

President Joe Biden has found a novel way to fight a dramatic rise in antisemitism since the Hamas terror attack on Israel October 7: putting Vice President Kamala Harris in charge of a new “national strategy on Islamophobia.”

The country has seen a near 400% rise in antisemitic incidents since the start of the war, according to the Anti-Defamation League.

In a video on Twitter/X, Harris said: “As a result of the Hamas terrorist attack in Israel, and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, we have seen an uptick in anti-Palestinian, anti-Arab, antisemitic, and Islamophobic incidents across America.”

The Biden administration is lumping these separate types of incidents together, as Harris tried to explain:
