Libertarian Writer: I’d Rather Have Chris Kyle Dead Than An Iraqi Terrorist

By Robert Gehl, January 31, 2015.

Libs have taken great pleasure in criticizing “American Sniper” and hero Chris Kyle – even libs who have never seen the movie.

Some libertarians are jumping on the bandwagon too. Reason writer Sheldon Richman appallingly compared Kyle to Sandy Hook killer Adam Lanza.

But he didn’t stop there. Richman apparently figured there weren’t enough people outraged at his remarks, so he took them a step further. He said he would rather have seen an Iraqi killed than Chris Kyle.

The Blaze’s John Cardillo confronted Richman on Twitter, trying to pin him down on how he really feels about Chris Kyle.

Richman steadfastly stands behind these comments and tried to defend them.

Kyle was targeting terrorists, right? Everybody knows that. But Spencer insist these people were “peaceful.”

Full disclosure: I’m a registered Libertarian. Reason Magazine is NOT a bad publication. But I am embarrassed that Richman is representing the Libertarian party with these idiotic comments.

If this is the direction the Libertarian convoy is headed, I’ll hop off.

There are Left libertarians and Right libertarians.

Left libertarians don't particularly care whether the government runs the economy, as long as the military is disbanded, dope is legalized and all morality is held to be determined by individual choice.

Right libertarians believe in free markets, a strong military that defends secure borders, and that morality is objective, but only enforceable by government when individual rights are threatened or violated.
"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn

  • Ah, the air is so much fresher here...
Libertarians are unfortunately liberal-conservative hybrids, and I rarely ever trust them. They can be very politically bipolar and unpredictable.
The Republic is lost.

Agreed.  The Libertarian Party is a joke.  I prefer the terms "classical liberal" or "constitutionalist" to libertarian because the big L party has so distorted that term.

Libertarians (liberal classics) are basically fiscally conservative socially liberal proponents of small government and non-interventionism.

The conjunction of those beliefs generally make sense.

Personally I belong to a group of libertarians that do not embrace the Ron Paul school of non-interventionism so I describe myself as a neolibertarian.
