Virginia education board restores Confederate names to schools

A school district in Virginia voted Friday morning to restore the names of Confederate generals to schools, becoming the first board in the country to reinstate such names after voting to remove them.

The Shenandoah County school board, representing a rural and overwhelmingly conservative area, voted 5-1 to restore the Confederate namesakes of two schools after having stripped the names in 2020 in the wake of the death of George Floyd.

The move would honor three Confederate military leaders: Army of Northern Virginia General Robert E. Lee, infantry General Thomas Jonathan “Stonewall” Jackson, and cavalry commander Turner Ashby. Mountain View High School will now be named Stonewall Jackson High School, and Honey Run Elementary School will now be called Ashby-Lee Elementary School.

Funds to make the changes will come from private sources as opposed to tax dollars.

Shenandoah County has become the first in the country to reverse the nationwide trend of removing Confederate names of schools.  .  .  .

This entre story is so incredibly stupid that I haven't investigated the details, but didn't this happen before she was governor? If so, it's utterly irrelevant to her qualifications or fitness to complete her term.

Is anyone really surprised?

After weeks of bias intimidation by Hamas supporters aimed at Jewish students and faculty, including Khymani James, an encampment leader who had talked to Columbia University officials about killing Jews, the Biden administration’s Department of Education, with the inevitability of a rigged slot machine in Reno, is launching a “civil rights investigation” into the university for “extreme anti-Palestinian, anti-Arab, and Islamophobic harassment”.

The complaint comes from ‘Palestine Legal’, the same group providing advice to the encampment protesters.

It complains that “Columbia has reinforced the hostile anti-Palestinian environment, including by suspending Students for Justice in Palestine — a student organization that advocates for Palestinian human rights — for engaging in speech activity supporting Palestinian rights” ...
I value my freedom too much to say what I'm really thinking.  :thumbsdown:

I never had any stomach probs with shrooms, either fresh or dried.( not freeze dried). I had no problems from some shroom tea I had kept in a Bota bag for quite a while.

His stand on abortion, as of today:  Fully legal from conception to term. That is unacceptable.  He's also far left on most of his issues.  It can be argued he is even more leftist that Shortbus Joe.

Absolutely @libertybele ! I took care of my Mom at the end and even some of the hospice nurses wanted me to limit certain things. Nothing illegal or immoral...like her iced tea that she drank all day and cigarettes. Needless to say, those things didn't happen. Had she wanted something illegal, heck I've got friends in low places so she'd have had it, lol.
