People are gathering in cities across the US on Saturday as protests over George Floyd’s death continue for a fifth day. Floyd died after he was pinned to the ground by Minneapolis police officers. One of the officers, Derek Chauvin, was charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter on Friday.

No he isn't, but we are also in a pandemic which Trump is being blamed for and he is also being blamed for this. Either way you cut it, Trump won't be able to keep silent on this matter and regardless of what he says, it will be re-interpreted as racist and we will see even more pandemonium unless Trump is willing to bend far to the left in order to maintain some kind of peace.
In listening to a couple of speakers this afternoon; the Blacks are tired of being silent .... they want the White Man to make peace the way the Blacks want it.

NYC Protests Continue Saturday After 2 Nights of Violent Clashes With Police
Thousands of protestors are taking to New York City's streets for a third day Saturday to demonstrate against police brutality in the wake of the death of George Floyd, a black man who pleaded for his life as a white police officer in Minneapolis knelt on his neck earlier this week for nearly 9 minutes.
Protests were planned in all five boroughs Saturday. The city's Office of Emergency Management warned to expect traffic delays and road closures due to one in Manhattan, along FDR Drive, by mid-afternoon, as witnesses described a largely "peaceful" demonstration outside the 28th Precinct in Harlem. Large crowds also blocked traffic on the West Side Highway around 100th Street.
Law enforcement officials confirmed at least nine arrests in Manhattan by the late-afternoon, but NBC New York cameras caught additional arrests in the borough and across the river in Brooklyn. Several groups across both boroughs were still gathered around Flatbush and Washington Square Park as of 6 p.m.
Earlier, hundreds joined a Staten Island afternoon rally the Rev. Al Sharpton led to the site where Eric Garner died after being placed in an NYPD police officer's chokehold in 2014.

Well ... we sat and watched it....too bad the media didn't give it more attention. A positive for this country that was very clouded by all the riots and violence. Such a shame.

That is exactly why the City of Detroit has never recovered from the riots in the '60's -- 'they' continue to burn and destroy their own city, expecting everyone else to rebuild it. I lived in the Detroit area for a good portion of my life ... and Detroit was "re-vitalized" several times; new stores and hotels, affordable housing brought into the area, schools upgraded, etc., only to be vandalized or not kept up. Now some of those revitalized areas have a new problem -- heavy Muslim presence. Glad we left Michigan long ago. We still have family in the area that live out in the suburbs, but you couldn't pay me to live back in Michigan.

Pittsburgh, the closest big city to me, went through similar revitalizations. Just within the last couple of years, in fact, the main business corridor underwent a big renaissance. Long neglected/decayed/abandoned buildings were torn down to make way for shiny new skyscrapers and a lot of residential housing. Really starting to look nice. But after today, who knows what's left?
I used to work downtown, but since, I retired, I've made a conscious effort to avoid the city like the plague. Even without riots, the city attracts too many unsavory types. Today's riots brought more of them into downtown. The city won't do anything much to keep the criminal element out. I feel sorry for the people who bought condos or rented apartments downtown. After today's madness, I can imagine many of them are going to be selling or subletting their residences and getting the H out.

The first moon landing was particularly special for me. My maternal grandmother, dying from cancer, was living with my family. The pain medications she was taking would knock her out. But for the moon landing, she would not take her meds and suffered with agonizing pain just so she could be awake to see the landing. Grandma passed away a few months later, but I will always be grateful she was able to see such an historic event.

Police sweeping the streets, after 8 PM curfew imposed.A police vehicle set on fire.
Some nicer areas, including Bev Hills.
My wife remarked they were all or mostly white people, under 30.
Some wearing masks, so convenient and prevents ID by CC cameras.
So far not as much fire and damage underway.
Mutual assistance working with nearby jurisdictions. Initially we only heard Los Angeles City plus LA Sherriif. But add to that cities of Santa Monica, Pasadena, Long Beach, Downey, etc.
In 1992 the fires weren't even out, when politicos like Mad Max Waters were demanding money to rebuild to go to minority contractors.
Plenty of work for my brother again. He was on ABC in 1992 as the white contractor from the OC.
To be sure, he'll be all over this one, too. He is still ambitious and agressive.

No excuse. But it seems in many citers, particularly those run by socialist liberals, the police are forced to focus on stupid stuff like arresting beauty salon owners while required to keep their distance from crimes involving certain groups of people because -- hey -- we don't want to appear racist, homophobic or whatever. I see that sort of *bleep* in Pittsburgh, only Pittsburgh not only has an idiot socialist liberal for a mayor, but also the higher-ups in the police department as well.
It's a bad time to be a policeman these days. Can't do the job without someone looking over your shoulder criticizing every move you make. I'm old enough to remember when the police in my little town were notorious for taking anyone they arrested -- even those accused of, say, shoplifting or public drunkenness -- to a vacant lot for a beating before bringing them to the station. Those days are gone, thankfully, but now we have the opposite situation. Can't arrest certain people or if you do, you have to handle them with kid gloves.
And the politicians wonder why there is so much crime -- at least one murder every day in the big cities (in Chicago it's double digits). The criminal element plies its trade because it knows it can get away with it. I'm going to bet that most, if not all of the ones picked up during yesterday's riots will be back on the streets rioting again today. Meanwhile, there will be no justice for the shop owner in Dallas who was killed or all the others who died, were injured or lost their businesses to lawless mobs allowed to do whatever the hell they want.

I would love to be able to claim I would not watch any of their tv programs or movies because of this,but I am already not watching them. I have a sorta vague idea that Rogan is a leftie comedian,since there is no other kind of comedian that can get an agent or a contract,and that Steve Carell is supposed to be funny,too. I live in hurricane ally and have also heavily prepared. IF for whatever reason there are those in here that have not prepared, NOW IS the time. Not just for the pandemic, but the uncertainty that surrounds the availability of meat, vegetables and fruit and now the uncertainty of these riots. There is no doubt we are experiencing an attack on conservatism in this country.
With the summer months here, tornadoes, hurricanes and flooding are very possible -- time to prepare; food, water, paper goods, medicine, herbs, ammo, guns, gold and silver.

You can't tell by looking. Trust me,I grew up in a resort area,and was surprised more than once. One girl I partied with for a short period turned out to have more than 30 million in her trust fund. She didn't dress any better than the rest of us,and drove a compact car several years old that almost qualified as a "beater".
The tip off should have been that she was spending the summer in the ocean-front mansion of a Texas billionaire. Never did get it straight if she was his daughter,granddaughter,or maybe a niece. Not that it matters.
Shockingly,she was pretty normal. Or as closed to normal as people can get who grow up wondering if the people they meet like them,or like their money.

Saw a film clip of the National Guard -- they are unarmed! That's why things are out of control! My guess is that the police have been ordered to stand down, that's why they are running. That is certainly true on the surface,but the deeper reason is WE,THE PEOPLE,are not holding our elected representatives feet to the fire and making them do their freaking jobs.

It genuinely pains me to write this,but the awful truth is NO BUSINESS is worth losing your life over. Stuff like this is why you buy insurance.
Don't believe me,go home and ask your child which is the most important,your life or your occupation.
In a "normal" break-in situation,you are facing one or two robbers,who might or might not be armed. You can survive that.
In a riot situation,you are literally facing hundreds of potential attackers,all of who are armed one way or another,and YOU CAN NOT WIN!
NOT saying you can't try to remember faces and go hunting afterwards,though. Let your conscience be your guide.

I get what you're saying about it not worth one's life to take on a mob trying to destroy a business and you are right. But I might understand a little of the mindset of a business owner whose instinct tells him to defend his livelihood. Many people pour their entire life savings into a business. Business insurance unfortunately won't cover all the losses and with their own money gone, these owners won't have enough to start over. And if the owner could somehow pull enough money together to rebuild, he will undoubtedly find insurance either hard to come by or so expensive, he won't be able to afford it.
This sort of chit is why I strongly believe we have to press our elected officials to get off their fat fannies and use whatever resources are available to hunt down, apprehend and prosecute those who are behind these riots. This stuff has been going on for decades -- at least as far back as the 1960s -- and enough is enough. Maybe it's Soros or drug cartels, perhaps whole nations which regard the US as the enemy. Maybe it's enemies we don't even recognize. Maybe it's all of the above. But whoever or whatever is behind these riots has to be brought to justice.

It cannot be emphasized enough that this entire travesty has been delivered to us on a plate by today's Democrat Party. It was the leader of that party who lectured business owners with "You didn't build that." The official Democrat position is that the gains of these businesses morally belong to everyone else and are there for the taking.

The people who loose their businesses/property aren't going to collect anything from insurance.
If they don't have the means to start over - they won't.

Standard homeowners policies will cover damage to the property caused by fire, an explosion, a riot or civil commotion, vandalism or malicious mischief. This would include coverage to the structure of the home, as well as any personal possessions.
I also looked at my homeowner's policy -- insured for direct physical loss to the property caused by the following perils ... riot or civil commotion...businesses are covered similarly.

Why would anyone with a business in or near a ghetto that has anything worth losing NOT buy riot insurance?
If you really want to get this to stop,have everyone buy riot insurance,and I can guarantee you that after the first riots and pay-outs,the mega-buck insurance companies (virtually all of them) WILL put mega-pressure on the political leadership to crack the whip and nip that stuff in the bud the next time it starts to happen.
Money speaks,and nobody speaks louder to city governments than insurance companies.
