You're welcome.

If you have a Roku device, you can use the "Search" function available on the Home screen to look for particular movies & TV shows. It does a fairly good job of listing which services a show might be available on, and whether it is free or not.

I've starting watching Season 1 Episode 1 of Alfred Hitchcock Presents. 268 more episodes to go.
I started watching episodes starting in 1955 last year. I was watching two every day.
I got through them all. Addictive. Virtually every episode had a twist at the end.

I believe this has been mentioned by other members but Mrs. Lando and I have enjoyed Slow Horses on Apple TV. It is a Brit production centered on a group of misfit MI5 agents who have been disregarded by the Agency. Gary Oldman is such a versatile actor. There are two seasons available with two more on the way.

Wife and I started watching "The Offer" on Paramount+ last night. We had both heard good things about the series and started watching it on a whim. We got so drawn in that we burned through the first three episodes back-to-back.  Can't wait to watch the rest.

The series is about the making of the movie "The Godfather". Lots of interesting stuff about studio politics and the Mob, and how the movie magic gets made.

Meant to ask how you liked Clarkson's Farm?  Just noticed today that Amazon just added the long and awaited Season 2.

I know what my wife and I will be watching this evening, instead of the woke Stooper Bowl.

I find it hilarious. Maybe more so since I come from an agriculture background. Interesting seeing the differences between ag here and ag across the pond.
Of course, the profanity is unnecessary.  *****rollingeyes***** But the characters are all very likable and we are enjoying the new season.

Netflix has another Brit gem that I have gotten some good laughs on too.  Called Cunk on Earth.  Though more profane, and non-PC, this mockumentary by BBC is worth the price of admissions just watching the "scientifc expert"'s expressions being questioned  in what they think are serious inerviews.  It's pretty danged funny.

Has kind of a Borat kind of feel to it,  so might be a little over the top for your tastes, but maybe worth a try.

I am finding American general TV becoming increasingly and exceedingly woke.  Hardly anything made here anymore is worth watching.

I watched a 3 hour movie called Joseph 1995 .... Story of Joseph from the Bible... For the most part, a Christian movie worth watching is few and far between (for me anyways)... this was an exception to the rule... Great film, Biblically sound, good acting.... I was impressed... ending was heartwarming. Soundtrack didn't excite me, neither here or there...

Rating 8.5/10

One of the best things my wife and I have watched in the last year is “Clarkson’s Farm” and “Clarkson’s farm2”.
This features Top Gear head guy and and bad boy Jeremy Clarkson who decided to buy an English farm near Chipping-Norton, England and see what he could do as a novice farmer.
He calls his farm Diddly Squat Farm an indication of how much he knew about farming. Which was next to nothing.
So his first season sees him take on a series of farming jobs that include animals and crops making a botch of both but proceeding with enthusiasm into all his misadventures.
He relies on a young real farmer named Kaleb Cooper who seems to know everything there is to know about farming including animals, crops, and equipment.
One of the funniest features of both seasons is Kaleb constantly upbraiding Clarkson for his ignorance and flubs.
Nevertheless, they work well together making a go of the farm. There is friction between the local council who seem mostly composed of a bunch of would be Stalins who disapprove of almost everything Clarkson wants to do,
The series is narrated by Clarkson who doesn’t spare himself in criticism. The language gets a little salty too.
The wife and I can’t wait for season three.

It is a "How catchem" like Columbo, and she does drive a dilapidated car, but that is where the similarities end.
She is traveling, being pursued by a hired gun because of her first "case".

Not bad…and not as pc as you might be led to believe. The premise is based on the lead character who has a built in sense when somebody is lying. She gets in trouble in Las Vegas because of her gift, and has to take it on the lam.
So the premise is a little wacky, but the storylines aren’t too bad.

Love Zelazny.  He's second only to Jack Vance as my favorite old-time SF author.  Lord of Light was a phenomenal book.   Probably couldn't make that one into a movie, though, without tens of thousands dying in riots in India.

Indeed, Lord of Light was my favorite novel, I have read it too many times to count.

They actually did try to make it into a film, but it never got past the planning stages due to legal complications.  However, the script and concept art (created by comic book artist Jack Kirby) were re-purposed by the CIA as the fake movie "Argo", used as cover to extricate US diplomats from Iran during the hostage crisis. Details in Wikipedia here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lord_of_Light#Film_version (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lord_of_Light#Film_version).

I forgot about that!  Good movie, too.

There is one quote from Lord of Light that has always struck with me. It went something like this:
Quote
An army, great in space, may offer opposition in a brief span of time. One man, brief in space, must spread his opposition across a period of many years if he is to have a chance of succeeding.

That always struck me as a brilliant exposition on the concept of playing the long game.  It's part of what the left has done to be so successful. There were comparatively few of them, but using "The Long March through the institutions", They have ended up greatly expanding their power and are now "winning".

On the flip side, that also means opposition to the left must keep that same principle in mind.  Just because we can't turn things around immediately does not mean we can't use their same tactics and build up effective opposition over time.

In other words, you must have both brains and patience when the numbers aren't on your side.

Watched the latest Tom Hanks movie where he plays a old gizzer who has become a bitter Karen. Actually the first half of the movie was decent (little slow)... then it went woke and more woke and I skipped to the end... Rating for the first half of the movie... 6 1/2 stars (out of 10)... rating for the last half of the movie 3 out of 10 stars.

EDIT:
Also want to apologize for not naming the Tom Hanks movie I mentioned above. It wasn't good, but I should of named it,  anyhoo it was called "A Man Called Otto"...

Just watched LUTHER: Fallen Sun on NETFLIX, starring Idris Elba.

A long awaited sequel to the LUTHER series, it disappoints.

Felt like they rubbed something sick and twisted into my face.  Silence of the Lambs is Mary Poppins by comparison.

Surprised if Elba would be involved with this crew ever again.

Hubby and I drove 2+ hours yesterday to see the new movie “Nefarious”. It’s written and produced by the same people who did “Unplanned” and “God’s Not Dead”. I’ve not seen either of those, but this movie is not the usual Christian sappy schlock. It’s very well done and extremely thought provoking. It’s a movie that challenges your worldview. FYI it’s loosely based on C.S. Lewis’s Screwtape Letters.

One of those God Isn't Dead was decent...

But honestly I have yet to find a better Christian series than "The Chosen" which has a 9.4 IMBD placing it in the top 5 tv shows of all time... (for a while it lead actually). I didn't believe it until I started watching the show for myself... and it is good... somewhat slow at times but it pays towards the end. The Chosen was crowd funded to make it, and the acting/dialog is spot on... It takes Biblical tales and personalizes it in a believable way (very Jewish and often witty)... It isn't too preachy but you catch Biblical references throughout the series if you have lightly read the Bible.

My rating... 10/10 (highest I can give).... but according to others, the series seems to be just as highly regarded.

The wife and just finished binge-watching The Offer, which is about the making of The Godfather. It was created by Godfather producer Al Ruddy who detailed all the hoops he had to jump through to get the flick made.  A little fiction in the movie but it mostly relates true stories. The stuff about the input from the Mafia, specifically Joe Colombo was news to me. The guy who plays Bob Evans, Brit actor Matthew Goode is outstanding.

A realistic Swedish movie called "The New Land" from 1972. One of the best realistic movies of early settlers in America. Gritty pioneers, deals with family/greed/religion/Indians/death/Civil War and all in between.  About 3 hours long...

Rating 9/10. Can watch for free... link below, but will not allow stream here.

I have not been able to find the first of the story (struggles in Sweden and trip to America) which was a previous movie.  If someone has a link I would love to watch it.

The wife and I finished watching "Rabbit Hole" with Kiefer Sutherland. A complete waste of time. Sutherland is some sort of computer whiz who spies for hire on other corporations.  He gets accused of a murder and goes on the run.
Usually Sutherland is pretty good in anything, but not this. For one thing most of scenes looked like they were filmed at midnight with one dingy candle. You can't hardly see anything that's going on. I don't know what possesses so many modern film and tv series creators to make it almost impossible to see what's going on.
The plot itself is extra confusing.
And, of course, everybody liberally uses the f word in all situations.
I won't give away the ending in case anybody here is watching, but it's one series I wish I never started watching.

A British aircrat carrier is attacked at sea by the Russians posing as Iranians trying to provoke WWIII. Very well done.

This past weekend, I watched "Man of Iron", a 1981 Polish film about the Gdansk shipyard strike. The film was banned in Poland for several years, until the end of the communist regime.

Lech Walesa had a brief role in the film, playing himself, of course.

The wife and I started watching the first episode. We stopped watching after about twenty minutes and never went back.
All the main characters appeared to obnoxious, foul-mouthed louts like many new series cranked out today. Even the women.
It seems nobody likes to create series with likable, good characters anymore.

Just about anything with Mitchum in it is good, but OOTP is one of  the top film noir flicks. I'm spending an unusual amount of time watching Film Noir movies. Something about the black and white  and the feeling that the main characters/protagonists are going to have something bad happen to them.
But I like a lot of the older movies anyway film noir or no film noir. The Thin Man movies with William Powell are also some of my favorites. Bah!!! to modern CGI-dominated modern flicks.

Have been getting into/enjoying Korean Action movies, audio dubbed in English.

The clash of cultural morals...love of family, respect of elders, military veterans, especially 'Marines' in contrast to the gore and violence.

Reminds me of the TV in which I grew up in the 50's and 60's.

Paramount has released the first season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds to Youtube for free watching. It covers the time of Cap'n Pike's command before his accident.

I expected such a recent series to be a pile of woke sewage, but I was pleasantly surprised. It's not far behind TOS, equal IMO with Enterprise.

I like John Krasinki a lot.  He's come a long way since The Office, and he put out some nice family-oriented Youtube videos during the early months of the COVID lockdowns to try and keep viewers' spirits up.  He's a genuinely nice guy and family man, and I like his portrayal of Ryan.

Season 4 is shaping up to be much better than Season 3, which I didn't like at all.

Yeah, Kathleen Kennedy, the same Disney Exec who declared that "the Force was female" and ruined the "Last Jedi/Star Wars" trilogy did similar hatchet work on Indy.  She demanded that the production team force the handover of Indy's torch to that annoying new "god daughter" to try and spin her off as a new franchise heroine, more suitable for today uber-liberal Hollywood audience.  In so doing, she's pretty much trashed the entire backstory that was laid out in the "Young Indiana Jones Chronicles" of the 1990s, just as the Mouse did with Star Wars' so-called "Expanded Universe" that was developed from 1983 through 2012.

Note that Kennedy did the same exact thing with Luke Skywalker and the designated new would-be heroine Rey Palpatine-Skywalker in the last trilogy, and it just did not work.  Luke's character was ruined forever in the process.

Watching SIGNAL on Netflix.  It's a Korean police drama series.

The Statute of Limitations runs out in 24 hours, when they finally have enough evidence to charge the suspect.

Why is it required to have the suspect in physical custody if you discover irrefutable evidence to charge her? (A Korean surgical nurse).

Thoroughly enjoyed KING: Eternal Monarch (16 episodes) although found it a bit puzzling sorting all the characters and their respective positions/ living in 2 parallel universes.

Now, I've settled into another 16 episode series titled SIGNAL...where a 1985 missing Seoul detective uses an obsolete hand held radio to communicate with a 2005-2015 Seoul detective to solve COLD CASES, thus, changing innocent lives.

Went to see the movie Sound of Freedom, about one man who left Homeland to rescue children from being trafficked.

The movie pointed out that there are more slaves in the world today than back in the day when slavery was legal.  Many of them are children, young children being used for sex.

The movie was very moving, and almost too incredulous to be true with this man's heroism.

The movie indicated the USA is one of the leading countries trafficking children.  And the Biden policy at the border promotes this to new heights in the USA.  What a tool Biden and his Idiocracy is.

There is one solution.  In a country with 340 million, a planet with 8 billion +/-, I say all human traffickers should face a special punishment of immediate execution upon being found guilty.    The world just does not need these people.  Sitting in prison or death row for 20+years accomplishes nothing.

This past weekend, watched "Harmony Lane", from 'way back in 1935.
A story about Stephen C. Foster (there were 3 films made on that theme).

I'd previously watched "Swanee River" from 1939 with Don Ameche, which was kept under wraps for a number of years (but is now available on YouTube).

Of the two, the older film looks to be closer to his actual life (but still a lot of fiction).

I have been watching re-runs of Criminal Minds episodes, and ran into one I immediately recogni 2zed,both because it was a good story, and because the guest star (Andy Milder)  flat blew it out of the water with his acting ability as the retarded serial killer/torturer that goes after girls that remind him of his brother's wife.

The story itself is very good, just like all the story lines on this series, but this actor is something  special.

If you care to look it up,it is Season 7,Episode 2. The episode title is  "Proof".

It is episodes like this that make me thankful I turned down the chance to become a cop.

The wife and I are watching season two of "Dark Winds" about a Native American policeman played by Zahn McClarnon  in the Southwest and a new series of "Justified" with Tim Olyphant.
Both new series are intriguing.

Tim Olyphant is back in his role as fed marshal Raylan Givins. Everybody else it seems is new. Too bad Walton Goggins (Boyd Crowder) can't return as some sort of villain. I believe he got killed off in the original series.

We saw it the other night. It’s a good movie, but way too long and a little disjointed. I wish it had been made into 2 movies. There’s enough material for 2 movies.
Be prepared for an unnecessary amount of female nudity.  *****rollingeyes*****

Saw Barbie last night with my wife and daughter.  Not sure what to think about it; it wasn't bad, but I'm not sure it was good, either.  It certainly had plenty of funny moments, and was well-acted.

That is why I prefer watching at home... I can usually skip through most the unnecessary stuff. Most everything now days has some gay scene that needs skipping along with the sex scenes.

I did watch a great film tonight.... Angel Studio (ones that brought us "The Chosen" series)...

This movie was called His Only Son ... It was painfully slow but I found myself loving it... It was about the story of Abraham, Sarah, and Isaak. The parallel story foreshadowing Jesus was a great. There was a little embellishment story here and there that probable could of been left out, but like "The Chosen" it does add some flavor to the period.

It can be found for free on Youtube (for now anyhoo)... The video on Youtube has a link where they got the film (and if you go to it, it offers a better quality download). Or you can just PM me and I will send ya a copy).

Watched this and cannot recommend it. Story about dead people coming back to life (real life, not zombies) and then having to deal with all the issues they left behind. But the writers get lost halfway through the story and it just gets more and more absurd. It is not a terrible story, it is a story which has no point or clear direction. If you skip it, you will have missed nothing.

While Hayden was politically far to the left, he was a very interesting actor. Nevertheless, in those days many Hollywood actors and actresses were conservative. Maybe 50-50. Many major stars were staunch Republicans.
Those days are over. Now the ratio of liberal actors to conservative actors is about ten to one.
And try to find a popular female actress who is a strong conservative.

Yes, there many modern tv shows and movies where there is literally nobody to root for. In some shows all the characters are morally vacuous.
I like shows with heroes and villains. Shows where everybody is an obnoxious jerk or pantywaist is not something I like to watch.

Finally saw Robert Mitchum's "Night Of The Hunter" from 1955. It shows why Mitchum was a very underrated actor.
Good actors can play evil characters like Mitchum did in this movie. He played a homicidal preacher out to find a bundle of stolen money hidden by two children whose father (Peter Graves) was hanged after stealing the money and killing some people.
The movie was directed by Charles Laughton and was the only movie he ever directed. It originally got bad reviews from the critics and discouraged Laughton so much he never directed another flick.
It is now rated as one of Hollywood's best movies. And Mitchum's favorite role.

Watching episodes of "The Virginian" on a regular basis. Didn't watch it much back in the day because my father didn't like it much. When I did see I liked it (I liked all westerns  0380000), but I didn't get to see many.
Even the early episodes were filmed in color. And the color resolution was very good. Many color shows from the sixties and even the seventies had poor color resolution. The big shift from black and white to color for most tv shows occurred in the mid-sixties.
Maybe NBC just had better people doing that than CBS or ABC.  I believe NBC was the first major network to start color tv back in the fifties.
BTW. the theme from The Virginian has been going through my head all day. Fortunately, I like the theme music.

Watching a dang good movie (ain't finished it yet, over 2 hours long)... Polish Period piece movie, that is fabulous as of yet... absolutely near perfect so far (just a little slow, but deliciously so). Think it is also on Netflix.

Forgotten Love

Trailer shows English overdubs, I am watching the Polish original with subtitles and prefer it. PM me if you need a link.

Nobody gonna give "Forgotten Love" a try ? ... Best movie of 2023 IMHO ...  and no wokeness, cursing (at least as far as I could tell in the subtitles, or gratuitous sex scenes). Great story, some twists, great scenery, humor, great soundtrack. Watch the version with subtitles over the overdub version. Could pass as a "Chick Flix" date night film, but guys will like it too.

There was also a 1982 version (called "The Quack") (and previous version I think in the 1920s and an Indian remake)...  Movie is so good I may try the 1982 version too (on Youtube).

Thanks for the suggestion. Gonna give it a try.

I found a great old show on Hulu that I missed when it was first run back in the day (because of school)

Moonlighting. Just dropped and it's so much fun to watch a really good show from the 80s and to see how young everyone looked.

plus the two assistant leads are hilarious!

Where the Crawdads Sing is a 'Chick Flick' throughout, but @Texas Robin  and I watched it last weekend and it was GOOD.

I read the book which was wonderful, but the movie was lacking a bit I felt.

That was pretty good TV and we were young parents.

Watching "The Man In The High Castle" first season. The wife and I have made it through four episodes so far attempting to figure out what is going on.
I read the novel by Philip Dick about fifty years ago, and I can't remember a single damn thing.
It's set in the early sixties. The Germans and the Japanese have won WWII. There is a resistance movement, and various characters are members and trying to coordinate their activities.
One really irritating about the series: the cinematography is standard, modern lousy dark. It's filmed like there weren't enough light bulbs for proper lighting. So, virtually every scene, even in the daytime, looks like it was filmed at midnight with one stinking candle for the lighting.
Why modern moviemakers choose to film their movies where you can barely see what's going on is beyond me.
Even with that very irritating circumstance, the series still has us interested.
We shall see what develops....if we can see what's going on.

Missed most of it during it's original run. I don't think I started watching it until the last  two seasons,so now I went back and started at Season 1,Episode 1,and am  working my way forward.

Last Night's episode of the Simpsons- Tree House of Horror 34.

One of the very best in the annual Halloween Tree Houses.

1. Made fun of NFT's and Snowpiercer.

2. Lisa an Sideshow Bob were doing Silence of the Lambs with a huge twist. (What if Sideshow Bob had murdered Bart in the "Cape Fear episode from years ago)

3. Homer eats a radio active donut while complaining about the "nanny state"

Dunno if I am the only Simpsons fan here though.

@GtHawk

Great series.
I saw the original Foyle's War from about twenty years ago.
The problem with all BBC productions today is that they demand a quota of non-whites i.e. blacks on all their shows. That means if you're watching some BBC series about life in a small English or Scottish town in the middle of nowhere, there will be a requisite number of black residents.
In the past twenty years I've been through numerous small English and Scottish towns and never saw one black person. Even in London I didn't see that many. Didn't go through Brixton.
The difference was pretty notable in one of my favorite mystery shows "Midsomer Murders." Set in an out of the way part of England, the early series with John Nettles saw few black performers. Because there just aren't that many black people outside of the large cities in England and Scotland.
The recent series with Neil Dudgeon have numerous blacks and other non-whites as main characters.
The BBC is also pushing a pro-homosexual agenda. Tough to watch.
So, it's difficult to watch a modern BBC produced program even if the plot looks good.  The BBC is pushing a woke agenda. Just not believable.

Still watching Mission Impossible reruns from the 60s/70s. It is a real blast. It is a time warp. Cigarettes are everywhere of course. They do the gauze camera trick once in a while when filming a woman. Put gauze over the lens and it 'softens' the picture to make women more beautiful. Once in a while you can see the women wearing those conical (Madonna like) bras which were popular in the 40s/50s.

It is amazing how much crossover there is in Star Trek and M.I. Shatner, Nimoy, Takei, among others all starred in episodes M.I.

As a child the "karate chop" was a big thing. All the kids were doing the 'karate chop'. I always assumed it came from some Kung-Fu movie but no. It came from M.I. On Mission Impossible the karate chop works the same as the Vulcan neck pinch did in Trek. They go up to any unimportant guard or something and with one karate chop to the neck the guy is immediately out like a light bulb for hours. Then in the next scene they get into a batman fight where they pummel each other with boards and crowbars for five minutes and no one gets knocked out.

Funny stuff. That's just the way TV worked back then. It's fun to go back in time once in a while.

I recently watched the TV series adaptation of the John le Carre novel Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, done by the BBC in 1979.  I don't think I had seen it since I watched the broadcast of it on PBS Masterpiece Theater, in 1980. It was excellent, especially the acting by Sir Alec Guinness as George Smiley. I found the episodes uploaded to YouTube; here is the playlist:

https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQDCbCZthZTQ3COwl0T9KptkE8oBKVAF_&si=m3r-JPDHxhftGl9O (https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQDCbCZthZTQ3COwl0T9KptkE8oBKVAF_&si=m3r-JPDHxhftGl9O)

The sequel series Smiley's People is there as well:

Really, there is so much old and obscure TV episodes and movies that you can find uploaded to YouTube. I find that I don't have to watch much else now.

Yes, public television from fifty years ago put on far better shows than what we see now. People might also forget that Bill Buckley's "Firing Line" was also a public tv. Today's public tv is mostly cooking shows, sewing/quilting shows, and politically correct shows about liberals pet groups.
The huge irony of the people who are against public tv and who support cable tv is that the shows you pay a private cable company for mostly put on dreck I don't want to watch.  And there is not one, single show on regular network tv that I like to watch. The last network show I liked was CSI-Las Vegas.
There are a few shows on cable here and there, but they're pretty rare.
Remember when they said that if you get cable, you can watch the shows you want to watch like history shows on the history channel? Or intellectual shows on the Learning Channel?
Then those cable networks do a bait and switch, and you're looking at a lineup of shows about looking for aliens or ghosts or other assorted lowbrow crap.

Watching CSI-Las Vegas now. Since there are 16 seasons  with  20-25 episodes per season, this should  keep me out of trouble for a while.

When it starts to drag a little from too much exposure at one time,I switch  back to The Walking Dead or some other program for  a few days. HUGE Walking Dead fan,and if you  had told me that would have  happened before I watched  it,I  would  have thought  you had either lost your mind,or were trying to  make fun of me.

Did finally get to see Ridley Scott's NAPOLEON this afternoon.

That's 3 hours of my life I'll never get back.

The earlier version was much better.

He went on to guest star on a few "Studio C" comedy shows... I mentioned the show (Studio C) a few weeks ago as a SNL improv-like show (except funny and clean since it was BYU production). Some of the member went on to form their own comedy group.

Some hit perfectly my funny bone, some totally miss the mark (thus is life).

I went to see Godzilla Minus One tonight at the theater. It was really good... not just a good Godzilla movie, but a real good movie. It's in Japanese with English subtitles, but the dialog is easy to follow. I recommend it!

@goatprairie

I'm being unfair.

Was sitting in the 1st row...at the end.
Despite being in a leather recliner, it was not a good perspective
The Dolby sounds of the canon battles shook the theater

It was just too long winded for my taste.
And despite the battle conquests, it's a love story.
"And despite the battle conquests, it's a love story."

That's the problem with a lot of Hollyweird flicks. They've just got to put the love angle thing in the plot that frequently overwhelms everything else.
That was my criticism of Warren Beatty's "Reds." It was supposedly about the Russian Revolution which you would think would be at least semi-interesting. But Beatty turned it into a love story between Beatty's character, John Reed, and Diane Keaton.
The final result was as dull as dishwater.

I feel that way about the Titanic. They should have called it Jack and Rose, a Love Story. But the special effects were good

I understand the idea of the love angle in all movies. That's the only way to draw females. Females were a huge audience for the movie.
So, it's a choice between making a lot of money (of course Titanic made scads of dough) or having a flick that's more geared towards males who, as a general rule, don't give a rip about the love angle.
Males want to see action, suspense, heroics. The love thing is far down the list.
I mean, who would want to watch one of Clint's spaghetti westerns if they made it about The Man With No Name who loved The Woman With No Name? I would guess that a lot more men than women like to watch Clint's westerns. That would include males like yours truly.

BTW, I never did watch "When Harry Met Sally" or "Sleepless In Seattle."
I have little or no inclination to watch chick flicks. Mostly no inclination.

I am watching "Better Call Saul" again. Watched it years ago,and happened to spot it while surfing shows on my movie and tv channels. I just couldn't resist.

Probably  going to end up watching "Breaking Bad" again when I finish this.

UPDATE!

Carol Burnette has a leading role in  several of the last seasons episodes. I had no idea she  was still alive, and was happy to see her.

It is a fine line... I just watched a film that tried to thread the needle with romance and war.... It worked for me, but I imagine would a hard sell for others.... It does have a nice IMDB rating.... but was long and complicated to keep up with (but I managed). I loved it, added it to my movie list (now nearing 250 movies)... 8.5/10 rating

A Very Long Engagement... 2004 (Period Piece movie set in WW1 France). Romance, War, and Mystery. Subtitles ran a little too fast at times.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HJXPvM1y2E

Then I watched a comedy with a few unknown actresses that I have loved for their comedic timing and quirkiness. A movie set in Covid times that was interesting in how they dealt with the madness of times... I laughed out loud a good dozen times... loved it as well...

Stop and Go .... 2022 (unfortunately the trailer makes the movie look silly, it is witty with some great humor that has to be experienced in full to grasp). 9/10 rating

@berdie

I just switched  over to Cricket Wi-Fi after Verizon went all to hell after they supposedly split into two different companies and then started hiring all Chinese tech  help. This was made worse by you never knew who to call if you were having problems. SUPPOSEDLY,Verizon was just supposed to sell phones and the off-sprung company was going to handle the internet, but it didn't seem to work that way.

Plus,I am now getting a more reliable signal from the Cricket Wi-Fi,and saving about 40 bucks a month in  the  bargain. Of course, this is only about "Day 5" with Cricket, but the hookup sure went smooth  and I haven't had an instant of trouble.

I also have access to all the Breaking Bad episodes. If you  haven't seen that one,you owe it  to yourself to watch it.

STILL owe Verizon a ton of money on the cell phone I bought from them about 4 months ago. Even after I told them I was going to continue to pay for the damn thing (I am using it with Cricket and using the same phone number I have always had), they still seemed to have an attitude about my leaving them.

This really breaks my heart, and I am contemplating  suicide over it. (/S)

I watched the new Daily Wire movie "Lady Ballers" ... Nutshell a movie about the absurdity of transgenders in women's sport... It had it's moments but was a little childish and crass at times. I liked the Matt Walsh scenes for the most part (no he is not the world's best actor), but he kinda played himself in that his own characteristics shined through the part. There was tons of conservative walk on parts, even Ted Cruz makes an appearance.

I will give it a thumbs up because they do rip into the woke culture. It wasn't pretty, and dragged here and there, but for a political nut, it kept me interested. 6/10 rating, keep working at it Daily Wire, refine your art. Studio C (see previous movie suggestions) could of pulled this off a whole lot better.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Py2MzGtmaJ0

Also the movie didn't address anything Trump did to kiss Transexual butt... (examples: Allowing first Trans beauty contestant, kissing Bruce Jenner's butt, praising pro-Trans answers in his pagent)... Because Daily Wire is Trump aligned for the most part.

I found the old Dragnets online. Not the ones I grew up with with Jack Webb and Henry Morgan- these are from 1951-53.

I can't believe some of the old actors in it before they were famous. I have seen Carolyn Jones (the original Morticia Addams) Aaron Spelling and a very very young Leonard Nimoy.

I am really enjoying these.

Yeah, I binge watched as many of them as I could a year of so ago. Unfortunately, there seems to be a limited amount of those shows available to watch.
From 1951 to 1959 they filmed 276 episodes. But less than ten percent of the shows are available to view.
Nevertheless, the ones I watched were enjoyable. Jack Webb's dialogues with other characters on the show were always enjoyable and much parodied. Webb made sure that his character, Joe Friday, always got in the last word.
But even Webb wasn't above making fun of his character as he did with a sketch with Johnny Carson on Carson's show one time.

Too depressing to watch or read right now. I did like the movie they made from one of his books- it starred Peter Sellers and I think Shirley MacLane? Can't think of the title off the top of my head but it was good. Of course anything with Peter Sellers was good?

This past Saturday night I watched "Meet John Doe", the 1941 Frank Capra movie starring Gary Cooper and Barbara Stanwyck. I had seen parts of it years ago, and decided it was time to see the entire thing. It's available for free, with ads, on Tubi. An interesting Christmas movie with lots to say about human decency and the corrupting influence of big business and politics.

I noticed while on Tubi that they have a lot of other classic movies available this month, including "Sergeant York" and many others. I'll be checking more of those out.

According to IMDB the character of Joelle is portrayed by Ellen Parren (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm2973824/?ref_=nmbio_ov), an actress from the Netherlands. Nothing that I can find on the web indicates she is anything other than female. Thanks...got that far myself.

But figured the world in which we live today, if she identifies as a 'woman', a woman she is.  There's no record of her on WIKI...which also raised my suspicions.

Then there's the Obama/Netflix 'agreement'...where every plot/script must contain a certain number of LGTBQ people or scenes...BEFORE they can be considered.

True, there is no guarantee they wouldn't just scrub all her entries once she transitioned. I did find an entry for her in the Netherlands Wikipedia, here: https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ellen_Parren (https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ellen_Parren). I don't read Dutch, but it does seem to say her father was American and her mother Dutch, and doesn't appear to mention a transition. But again, that's no guarantee.

In her IMDB pictures at least, it didn't look to me like she has an Adams apple.

I just started watching "All the Light We Can  See" on Netflix tonight. It is about a little girl, maybe 10 or 11 years old,who is living alone in a French city occupied by the Nazi's. Evidentially, her father went somewhere several years earlier, and never returned,so she is living by herself with  the aid/support of a few neighbors, waiting  for him to  return.

There is a flash-back scene in episode 1 that shows how her father was teaching her how to live with being blind and still be out and about, dealing with people and living life. He also got her a shortwave radio, and taught her how to use it so she could communicate with  others outside of the house.

To keep  herself busy, she reads a braille book over her shortwave radio every night. While doing so,she adds messages to the resistance into  some of her broadcasts. Because of this the Nazi's are trying to track down the source of her radio broadcasts.

I should also  mention the character she  portrays is blind, and this just might be some of the very best acting I have  ever seen. Her eyes seem to be solid brown with no irises in them, which leads  me to suspect she is wearing contacts. I can't  even begin to imagine how she  or anyone else with  normal sight can portray a blind girl so perfectly otherwise.

She just may be one  of the most amazing actresses I have ever seen. She really has me believing she might actually  be blind, which would be impossible given the complexity of her dialogue and how hard it would be to memorize all of that.

I really can't praise her acting ability too much.

I am still on episode 1,season 1,and this one appears to be a serious winner on several levels. Gonna be SERIOUSLY pissed if the Nazi's end up finding and executing her character.

Even if this happens,I am going to take note  of her stage name/real name, and keep  an eye out for future roles she will play.

BTW,she APPEARS to be younger than 8 years old. Might even pass for 4 years old,but there is no way anyone that young can do what she does so well.

UPDATE!

She APPEARS to be younger than 8  years old in some of the early "flashback scenes",and that little actress is a jewel in her own right. How anyone that young can memorize script and perform is a freaking mystery to me.

This takes nothing  away  from the teen/young female actress who plays the teen/adult role.

This  really is some of the best acting and best "Story telling" I can remember viewing in a long time.

I'm watching "It's a Wonderful Life" on Amazon Prime.  I started watching it on NBC, but couldn't stand the commercials. FWIW it's available on Tubi also, but again with commercials.

Though directed by Meathead Rob (not to be confused with Meatball Ron); Woody Harrelson gives a good performance as LBJ.

Tonight:
"Damnation Alley", old post-nuclear war film with Jan Michael Vincent...
It's a racist movie, only the white guys survive :silly: Jan Michael Vincent was perfecting his stone face in this movie, he was very different in The Undefeated 8 years earlier...maybe the alcohol and drugs reduced him to one facial expression.

Tonight, the perfect "New Year's Eve" film:
The original 1960 production of "The Time Machine", with Rod Taylor and Alan Young.

The setting for the film is December 31, 1899...
