Are you flipping kidding me? Selling custom Bibles?? Wow. He's really gone to far. Take a look at the picture (@link) -- behind him is St. John's which was vandalized. A few years back while president when the riots were taking place he walked across and with Bible in hand vowed that he would calm the insurrection. He FAILED. Not once, but twice and now he's selling 'custom Bibles' for $$!! The article title reads to celebrate 'Holy Week' *****rollingeyes***** He's celebrating lining his pockets. Pretty low. He's hit rock bottom. He's given me one more reason NOT to vote for him...I'll pray for him. After all, he stated that "We Must Make America Pray Again". 9999hair out0000
Trump sells custom Bibles to celebrate Holy Week
At the advent of Holy Week, former president Donald Trump took to social media to advertise a new product: custom Bibles.
In a video posted to Truth Social, Trump — the presumptive Republican nominee for president — encouraged followers to buy a copy of the “God Bless the USA Bible,” a gold-gilded edition of the King James Version that also includes copies of the U.S. Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, the Pledge of Allegiance, and a handwritten chorus to Lee Greenwood’s song, “God Bless the USA.”
The Bibles cost $59.99.
“I’m proud to endorse and encourage you to get this Bible,” Trump said in the video. “We must make America pray again.”
The webpage where the Bibles are sold explained that the product is “the only Bible endorsed by President Trump.” It also explained that the organization “is not political and has nothing to do with any political campaign,” and proceeds are not going to Trump’s campaign for president.
However, the company “uses Donald J. Trump’s name, likeness and image under paid license from CIC Ventures LLC,” a company that Trump reported owning in his 2023 financial disclosure. CIC Ventures also offered licenses for use of Trump’s name to sell Trump-themed sneakers and NFTs.
While Trump does not claim to belong to any particular religious denomination — he was raised Presbyterian, but now identifies as a nondenominational Christian — a large portion of Americans think he is a man of faith. According to multiple Deseret News/HarrisX polls in late 2023, over 60% of Republicans think Trump is a “person of faith.” More Republican voters said Trump is a person of faith than any other politician.
Trump enjoys massive support from evangelical Christians, who make up a significant portion of the Republican electorate. Many evangelicals credit Trump for nominating three conservative justices to the Supreme Court who overturned Roe v. Wade.............

We must make America pray again? Let’s begin with repentance. We must make America REPENT again. How about a “God Forgive the USA Bible” instead?
A lack of Bibles is not a problem in this country.

From the guy who brags about grabbin' the P.
I'd stay clear of thunderstorms Don.

Any church gives them away for free
-
While agree with the sentiment...maybe the Bibles should be free.
This puts Bibles on the same level as steaks, wine and those trading cards with his picture he was peddling a while back.

And my travels through the nations
With my plastic Trump I'll go far.
Plastic Trump plastic Trump,
Riding on the dashboard of my car..
I don't care if it rains or freezes
As long as I've got my plastic Trump
Glued to the dashboard of my car,
You can buy Him phosphorescent
Glows in the dark, He's Orange and Pleasant,
Take Him with you when you're travelling far ......
-
.......plastic Trump plastic Trump
Riding on the dashboard of my car
His halo fits just right
And I use it as a sight
And they'll scatter or they'll splatter near and far
When I'm in a traffic jam
He don't care if I say Damn
I can let all sorts of curses roll
plastic Trump doesn't hear
For he has a plastic ear
The man who invented plastic saved my soul.............
I could go on with the lyrics, but I think Trump is now a complete train wreck and he just lost his re-election.

Well, to be fair, the Catholic Church does not endorse the Scofield edited bible @libertybele --- who was funded by Samuel Untermyer to write his "notes"
So lighten up, Francis.

This is not the week for money changers in the temple.
-
This isn't just not thinking before you speak and saying something stupid. Something like this takes some degree of planning, preparation, approval, promotion, etc.. So certainly, he had plenty of time to consider/reconsider this, but evidently decided there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. It didn't set off any red flags in him because he really isn't a religious person at all, and so likely can't comprehend why anyone would object.
That might not be so bad if he didn't try to pretend that he was devout when it is convenient to his personal and political goals.
-
I’m especially looking forward to his insight on Two Corinthians.

Donald Trump Teams with Country Music Star Lee Greenwood on New ‘God Bless the USA’ Bible Edition
Former President Donald Trump has teamed up with country music star Lee Greenwood on a new, patriot-themed edition of the Bible — the “God Bless the U.S.A.” Bible, which comes with copies of the U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence, and Pledge of Allegiance.

I don't think it is possible for Trump to alienate his base at this point. The "shoot someone on Fifth Avenue" claim appears to be correct.
But his base is far less than what he needs to win the election, and it is non-MAGA Republicans and swing independents who may get alienates by these type of antics.
-
?? The only people I see bitching aren't his base. But maybe you've seen otherwise?
@bigheadfred
I weighed in, and I'm not "his base." I'm just someone who doesn't want Joe Biden (or any other Dem) to "win" (and all that that implies) in November. That said, I'm lamenting the fact that I did weigh in as this is yet another TDS vortex. There are only so many ways you can express hatred for Trump. None are clever, nor are they new. The TDS pool entertains itself. Nada más

Hate is a very strong word. I do not hate Trump. I think those that give Trump a free pass on any and everything just because he's Trump, need a reality check.

I think it all goes into the mental hopper of how people think about Trump, and whether a particular straw breaks the camel's back will vary from person to person.
No single thing that he has said or done convinced me not to vote for him. It was an accumulation of a lot of things that, in the aggregate, were too much to overcome.

Personally I don't think ridiculing someone reaches the level of hate, if it did where would that leave Trump? There would be an enormously large segment of the population, especially comedians that would be shut down for hate speech....and that's such a liberal socialist democrat kinda thing that should be shunned.

Sure.
1) Biden is much more likely to support Ukraine against Russia than is Trump. That may not matter to you or other Trump voters, but it does for me.
2) 4 more years of Biden will continue to turn more people away from progressivism, and prime the pump for a major GOP comeback in 2026 and 2028 without the anchor of Trump/MAGA turning off swing voters. Conversely, electing Trump likely will get us curb-stomped in both 2026 and 2028.
Obviously, there are some ways that Biden will be terrible as well, which is why I won't vote for him either.

There won't be 2026. Yes, the year will come and go, but there will be no America as a functioning republic. They were in a hurry in his first 4 years. If he is "elected" for another 4, they'll put the pedal to the metal. And who actually thinks Biden himself will be in the Oval? How do we feel about President Harris?

Agree
I can’t guarantee that after four years of Biden, the country will elect a Republican president. But another possible two term Democrat will follow four years of Donald Trump.
Donald Trump will not be a placeholder for the next conservative Republican president. He’ll be a placeholder for the next Democrat president. And that person may be an Elizabeth Warren type

Not sure of your point.
My point is listen to the MSNBC commentators, for example. They are promising all the same gloom and doom if Donald Trump gets elected. The end of democracy will come if Donald Trump wins and we will enter a period of authoritarianism.
They are just as convinced that the end of America will befall us if Donald Trump is elected. And they will be out voting in November.

@LMAO
So,following your logic, the thing for conservatives to do is vote for Biden in order to keep Trump out of the WH?
Uh.........
The fact is if Donald Trump is elected a democrat who could potentially serve two terms is going to follow. I’m not telling anybody how they should vote.
Keep in mind that it is hard for challenger to beat an incumbent president. Not only is Biden sitting on record amounts of campaign cash, but he also has millions of dollars worth of a sympathetic media
-
@Maj. Bill Martin
I'd rather not too - But I'd much rather all that was coming from the left instead of the right. And that's the choice that's left us.
Even so, your predictions are a bit hyperbolic. They've got 25 state houses raising up an effective buttress - I'll lay my money on that, and put my efforts there, rather than relying on ineffective tangerine power plays.
-
That's very probably true. And wider divisions and bigger government to hand over to em in the end.
-
The fact is if Donald Trump is elected a democrat who could potentially serve two terms is going to follow.
@LAMO
Why?
Are you already calling the Republican Presidential Candidate after Trump's term a loser?
WHY?
Hell, you don't even know who it will be,or who they will be running against!
What we DO know is that it won't be Biden or any incumbent Dim.

He's very probably right. Tumpy will so screw up the 'conservative' banner that he will invariably hand it right back to the Democrats, while Republicans go to the desert to try to reformulate a coalition.
Just like last time.

History alone will be against that person. Ever since the 22nd amendment, except once, whatever party held the White House for two terms was replaced by a president from the other party when they left office
One of the reasons why I’m sticking to my prediction that Biden will be the candidate and 2024 is history
Truman did not seek a second term. Lyndon Johnson did not seek a second term. Both are replaced by Republican presidents. The DNC is aware of that history also

Sadly, because Tumpy has donned his phony 'conservative' banner that he got from that little vietnamese guy that sells purses on the corner, It'll be the Conservative name that will be trashed, and the RINO Moderates will rise again. Just like every other damn time.
The chances of Republicans coming up with something like the TEA Party to carry their banner forward are slim to none... Because of that alone.

Nope. I don't think so -- this is the last call. Either the Republican party gets it right this time around or we won't have a country left.
Just my opinion. I don't see much glimmer of hope.

I think that's far too grim.
It is grim, but we still have state nullification which is a powerful tool, and will fight the fight in the interim.
It would be different if the feds had total reach, but they always overreach, and it always sets them back.
Politics has way less to do with anything than culture, and American culture is fighting back.
I hold out hope. I probably always will.

I think that anyone thinks will be changing even if Trump is elected is making a huge assumption because I seriously doubt we will keep our razor thin majority in the house let alone take the senate. So what is the best we could hope for, Trump nullifying all of Dementia Man's EO's and then writing a ton of his own...again, with a hostile unified Congress fighting a four year lame duck president and never mind getting a SC justice approved if an opening comes up. And yeah I would fully expect Trump would then be followed by a two term democrat.
Also I must remind myself of two things, one is I live in Californukistan so my vote for president won't mean diddly squat, and two I have been told so many times by Trumponians that Trump doesn't need my vote so kindly piss off that I am going to follow their wishes.
What is really really funny is that now I see the ones that told me to piss off with my vote are now whining about people not voting for Trump :silly: :silly: I expect next for the if you don't vote for Trump you're voting for the democrat BS **nononono*

My vote for POTUS won't count for a different reason. If he runs, Trump will win ND, hands down. one vote more or less won't matter. It's the Electoral College who determines POTUS, anyway.

OMGGGGGGG
I'd rather not ***suicide***
If the U.S. truly is so close to the edge that it wouldn't exist if Biden gets even one more year in office, Trump sure as hell isn't the guy to save it.
We will still control the Supreme Court, and likely also have control of at least one chamber of Congress. So I think the Republic will make it to both 2026 and 2028, when we hopefully will have a chance to elect an actual conservative.
-

Not at all. I can't stand liberals. Dislike em with a passion.
Why do you think I won't vote for Tumpy?
Bitem is no different. Won't vote for him either.
My fondest wish would be to raise up a Conservative congress to heal this nation.

That is exactly my biggest concern with Trump.
We have almost an entire generation who has grown up thinking that there are two political options: woke progressivism, or Trumpish. Young people need to see that there is an alternative to progressivism that does not involve Donald Trump..
-
I thank God you're the minority.
If I was in the majority, we'd have a conservative, small government president backed by a conservative, small government Congress, which would be miles from both Trump/MAGA world, and progressivism.
So it doesn't surprise me at all that you want to stay far away from that.

That's right. There's not a lot of difference there. And both are miles away from the opposite, which is Conservatism. This generation would benefit by learning there is a different way altogether.
But sitting em down and learning em is not likely to happen... They can't hear you, either kind.

From the white house website, Mar 2020:
School operations can accelerate the spread of the coronavirus. Governors of states with evidence of community transmission should close schools in affected and surrounding areas. Governors should close schools in communities that are near areas of community transmission, even if those areas are in neighboring states. In addition, state and local officials should close schools where coronavirus has been identified in the population associated with the school. State and localities that close schools need to address childcare needs of critical responders, as well as the nutritional needs of children. Older people are particularly at risk from the coronavirus. All states should follow Federal guidelines and halt social visits to nursing homes and retirement and long-term facilities. In states with evidence of community transmission, bars, restaurants, food courts, gyms, and other indoor and outdoor venues where groups of people congregates should be closed.

The Christian reaction to Trump’s Bible endorsement goes deeper than you think
Former President Donald Trump is officially selling a patriotic copy of the Christian Bible themed to Lee Greenwood’s famous song, “God Bless the USA.”
“Happy Holy Week!” Trump announced on social media Tuesday, during the most solemn period of the Christian calendar, the last week of the Lenten season marking the suffering and death of Jesus. “As we lead into Good Friday and Easter, I encourage you to get a copy of the God Bless The USA Bible.”
The concept of a Bible covered in the American flag, as well as a former president’s endorsement of a text Christians consider to be sacred, has raised concern among religious circles. It’s also raised questions about Trump’s motivations, as the former president finds himself in the middle of several expensive legal battles.
‘Sacrilege,’ theology, and the shadow of Christian nationalism
The $59.99 Bible, which was first published in 2021, features an American flag and the words “God Bless the USA” printed on the cover. Inside, it has the words to “God Bless the USA” and the text of The Declaration of Independence, the Pledge of Allegiance and other historic American documents. Promotional material for the Bible shows the former president alongside country singer Lee Greenwood.
Responses to Trump’s social media announcement called the endorsement “sacrilege,” “heresy” and “borderline offensive” and cite lessons directly from the Bible that suggest taking advantage of people’s faith for money should be condemned.
“It is a bankrupt Christianity that sees a demagogue co-opting our faith and even our holy scriptures for the sake of his own pursuit of power and praise him for it rather than insist that we refuse to allow our sacred faith and scriptures to become a mouthpiece for an empire,” said Rev. Benjamin Cremer on X.
Jason Cornwall, a pastor from South Carolina, said on X that Trump’s Bible endorsement was a violation of one of the Ten Commandments of the Hebrew Testament that forbids taking God’s name in vain.
However, the criticism doesn’t end with whether or not Trump’s endorsement is un-Christian or not. In fact, it’s just the beginning. ............

That is my biggest fear. The young people being fed crappola. I can't pin that on Trump. I also fear that unless there are elections that don't feature reality stars or mud slinging there will be little participation or interest...the younger amongst us enjoy entertainment. Style over substance.
And let's face it...us oldie, moldies are gonna phase out and go away.

I CAN. Both sides are slinging so much crappola that real news is lost in the ocean of Bullsh*t .
One of my biggest critiques of Tumpy and Co is the disaster that is now right-facing news. They're all in the bag, one way or the other., and none of them can speak a word without spin.
-
Bullshit. None of it matters if the ports are closed.
What ports were closed? There were backlogs, sure. A lot of problems were caused by what was happening in other countries. And any trouble you have getting parts now has nothing to do with Trump.

The Bible is not something you play around with. Who does he think he is to 'endorse' a Bible?
Maybe I am overreacting but this just doesn't set well with me.
Down ballot for me. Constitution Party is just starting to get off the ground, so I don't see them as a viable option.

I'll vote CP if I can - I already know I'll agree with their platform, probably up, down, and sideways. And coming off the ground, they need the support. So by default, I will help them if I can.
If nothing else it is a dandy protest vote.

Who do the Bible Thumpers, including the Pope think they are to endorse the Bible as "The Word of God"?
None of them were around when some dude known as Jesus spoke in Gods name.
AFATG,where is the proof that some Dude known as Jesus was speaking for God,and which version of Jesus was it that was speaking for each different version of the Holy Bible?

All of those questions have valid answers in favor of YHWH and Yeshua -- But we are not supposed to foster religious debate.
Technically I could, because as I understand 'Da Rulz' an answer to a question is fair play...
But in your case, pearls, swine, etc.

To the contrary - The ultimate proof is the prophecy - Yah called his shots from the beginning, and claims there is no other god that can do so. And he is batting 1000 - literally to-the-very-day.
And my daughter is a walking talking miracle, as was my father, as is my mother, as am I. The miracles he has wrought in my family go on and on. Totally inexplicable.
BUT, you'd have to read it and study it to see and understand... And no one can talk you into that but YOU.

Trying to have it both ways?
I will admit that I think this was one of the dumbest things he has ever done. It will offend a lot of the True Believers as well as a lot of the non-believers.
Of course,if he is really a "believer",he will never believe it would offend anyone.
And that is where the problem lies. His wealth has insulated him from contact with what we laughingly call "normal people". The same can be said about every other Presidential candidate, but most hire pros to advise them on what to say and do,and Trump refuses to do this.
It has hurt him.

You are assuming an awful lot, based on nothing at all other than your own prejudices.
Nope. *facts*.
But you'd have to look at it.
I don't think you could name any prophet for any god that I have not at least a transitory knowledge of - A little weak in India and points east of there, but know enough to know their beginnings and what they base their patriarchal system on... That is to say I am pretty conversant with other gods and their prophets going way way back.
I did not settle on YHWH without cause.
He called his shots from the beginning. And he was right.
No other god stands in the shade of that.

Bullshit. None of it matters if the ports are closed.
What ports were closed, and by whom??

I think my favorite was "Elmer Gantry."
Burt Lancaster flat ate UP all the scenery when the camera turned to him.

What guidelines to follow and for how long were decisions made at the state level by the governors.
Governors of seven Republican states did not close down: Arkansas, Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming.
Not much changed here in ND aside from the oil patch going dead for a year (with the exception of schools going online and a lot of blue masks blowing around parking lots).

Same here, mostly... Even under the lockdown during our Democrat governors' reign, most paid it no mind. At least that was true out of town. The Towniies were more compliant...
The scary part was watching all the national corporate systems comply. Especially banks as a real and terrifying example. I couldn't get at my money for MONTHS. They were entirely closed off.
Now, the funny part is that I was a bit of an anomaly in that, Because I had no credit card or debit card - What was probably transparent to all y'all was devastating to me - And the result is that I am now the same as the most of you - and have largely adopted electronic banking - I was forced into that behavior.
I had no plastic. Had I any plastic, the system was still somewhat open - you could always withdraw cash with your plastic from an ATM. But you needed the plastic. The bank was open electronically. Well, sorta... 300 bucks at a time. But to get plastic, you needed to go to the bank. But the bank was closed. After it opened again, it was only by appointment - and my appointment took another month.
I was reduced to working and selling *cash ONLY*, or at least, that was the only money I had during that time.
What is salient from my POV is the things that were forced, and to ask why they were forced. That's exactly why I operated as I did - Convert incoming electronic streams to money by withdrawal - And that was forcibly ended.
People were forced into shopping at box stores - WHY?
People were forced into increasing their reliance on Amazon and online shopping - WHY?
Government interface was forced to online only - WHY?
They shut OFF Main Street - WHY?
Where does all that go?

I remember having to carry around this letter I got from the Department of Homeland Security allowing me to be out in public since I held an "essential" (oil) job. It was a get-out-of-jail-free card from the Covid police.
Of course the federal government could have simply declared that 'everyone' was essential and could enjoy the freedoms that were endowed to us by our Creator. But that didn't happen.
Many months later, I would see these same 'essential' workers being blocked from their jobs and denied their livelihood because they refused the jab. It was at this time that I had to make that same decision - get the jab to keep working offshore, or work for another company. I chose option 2.

Trump, 5th Avenue
NEW YORK — A visibly desperate and agitated President Donald Trump loaded his IMI Desert Eagle handgun today and travelled to Manhattan’s 5th Ave. to make good on his initial campaign promise of openly shooting a bystander, hoping to secure enough votes to defeat Democratic challenger Joe Biden.
“These people love me, and I’m here to prove just how much,” explained the gun-wielding leader of the free world in front of Trump Plaza. “I said I could do it, right here in the middle of the street — I said it before the last election, and look what happened: they cheered so loud and voted me into office. This will be the greatest shooting spree in American history — better than any mass casualty event in the history of the country. Very good for our economy. Today, I Make America Great Again!”
Despite appearing more energetic and agile since his COVID-19 diagnosis last month, many in Trump’s own Cabinet frantically tried to discourage him.
