Well, I said in another thread that I expect the hearings to be a snoozer, so I'm not watching. God bless those of you who will be enduring this dog and pony show. I'll check back for highlights and lowlights here once in a while.
In the meantime, Netflix has a really good old movie, Butterfield 8, starring Elizabeth Taylor. I saw it many years ago, but I have probably forgotten most of it. So I will be playing this movie to refresh my memory.
For those of you who will be watching and reporting --thank you.

As best I can tell by Bill Taylor's testimony thus far, Trump's real crime is refusing to delegate the entirety of U.S. foreign policy decision-making to a coterie of unelected career bureaucrats who think the Constitution gives them all power and authority to run the country.

Ambassador Taylor just spent 20 minutes making a case against Trump's foreign policy decisions.
His job is to represent the foreign policy positions of the Executive Branch, if he didn't like them he has two options.
Resign or Comply
There is no third option.
This is sham.
Listening to this in my car while I'm running errands, and I am screaming at the radio. This is hearsay squared. They are asking the witness to speculate on what the Ambassador was thinking when he speculated about what Trump meant. How on Earth do they allow this testimony to go on?
When are the hearings and how do I follow along?
The first hearing is on Wednesday beginning at 10 a.m. ET. The second hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. ET on Friday. You can watch live on NPR.org and listen to special coverage on many local public radio stations.

Nobody is a better example of that than Schiff and that pompous ass,Ambassador Taylor. Taylor is irate because "Who does the President think he is to go against MY wishes?"
Which seems to be a common failing of every US Ambassador in history. Old Man Joe Kennedy was fired from his job as the US Ambassador to the Court of St. James after the British caught him passing on war plans to the IRA to pass on to the Nazi's because he was an IRA supporter, and put his own personal beliefs ahead of what was best for America.
Not only that, but he was never charged with treason in time of war.

Nunes is up at bat...
Starting out with some scene setting regarding the Trump-Zelensky call... both presidents' comments on it... using Schiff's lies (so called parody) against him.... showing it as a created narrative.... Zelensky denies that characterization, points out that prior testimony showed that Ukraine was unaware of any holds on aid at the time of the call...
In reality Trump has provided more valuable aid to Ukraine than the prior administration..... supposed "victim" of "crime" denies that it occurred....
Precisely Zero evidence that Trump asked Ukraine to manufacture dirt."
Much evidence that Ukraine did indeed interfere and meddle in the 2016 election.... perfectly good reason for Trump to want to find out.... good reason to send his personal attorney to make inquires about it...
Brings up Chalupa named... admitted to Politico that she was paid to dig up dirt against the Trump campaign.... points that out to Kent, so we will skip you...
Directs question about Chalupa to Taylor.... Taylor: "Uhh, I had not known about this before..."
Ukrainian Parliamentarian Kalenko: "It was clear that the Ukraine was supporting the HRC campaign, since we thought she would win..."
Brings up Black Ledger (think Manafort).... asks Taylor about it? Taylor confirms that he knows nothing about anything....
Isn't it amazing.... how totally opposite Taylor is now .... now that he's being questioned by GOP Counsel. Not smooth at all now that he is "off script". Very telling.

WOW! Just wow! NOW we know why the Dems are so damned upset!
Boies, Boies, where have I heard that name before? Wasn't there a David Boies who filed a false affidavit in Dade County Florida on behalf of Algore in 2000?
Boies Schiller Flexner LLP is a national law firm based in New York City. The firm was founded by David Boies and Jonathan D. Schiller in 1997, and in 1999, the founders were joined by Donald L. Flexner, former partner with Crowell & Moring, forming Boies, Schiller & Flexner.
The firm has become known for its involvement in high-profile litigation, having represented the Department of Justice in the antitrust action United States v. Microsoft, as well as Vice President Gore in the Supreme Court case Bush v. Gore. More recently, Boies successfully challenged the constitutionality of California's Proposition 8 in Perry v. Brown, and represented the National Football League in the antitrust litigation initiated by the players' union.[1] The firm has drawn controversy for its aggressive tactics during representation of Harvey Weinstein amidst sexual abuse allegations[2][3] and the now-defunct blood testing startup Theranos.
Democrat Rep. Mike Quigley (IL) on evidence: "Hearsay can be much better evidence than direct ... and it's certainly valid in this instance"
Ok, I have to ask: Who are all these people tweeting? I know a few such as Hannity and Ingraham, but most of the others I don't recognize. And that makes me wary about believing what thy have to say about these hearings.
Complaint Against David Boies and Mitchell Berger
STATEMENT OF FACTS
Amid the many legal matters in the State of Florida since November 7, 2000, regarding the 2000 Election, Respondent-Attorney Boies and Respondent-Attorney Berger, representing Vice President Albert A. Gore, reportedly offered an allegedly false affidavit in two separate trials. See Jan Crawford Greenburg & Dan Mihalopoulos, "Bush Turns Top U.S. Court; Republican Wants Florida's Manual Recounts Stopped; Illinois Case Offers Shaky Precedent," Chi. Trib., Nov. 23, 2000, at 1 (Exhibit B) [hereinafter "Greenberg & Mihalopoulos"]; see also Steve Miller, "Gore Lawyer's Ballot Affidavit was False," Wash. Times, Nov. 25, 2000, at A4 (Exhibit C) [hereinafter "Miller"]. The following excerpts from a November 23, 2000, Chicago Tribune article set forth the nature and the context of Respondent-Attorney Boies and Respondent-Attorney Berger's conduct:
A landmark Illinois Supreme Court ruling hailed by Vice President Al Gore's lawyers may not be the legal home run they believe will aid his quest to win Florida's 25 electoral votes and the White House, an analysis of the ruling shows.
Gore's lawyers focused on the Illinois ruling because the Florida Supreme Court quoted it at length Tuesday night [(November 21)] in its decision to allow manual recounts in selected counties to continue. The lawyers suggested that the mention of the Illinois case was a sweeping directive to count controversial "dimpled" ballots, in which ballots were indented but not punched through.
. . . But that Illinois case should not give Democrats any confidence that dented ballots will be counted in Gore's favor. That's because the Illinois court actually affirmed a trial judge's order to exclude dented ballots, since he had decided he could not reasonably determine the voters' will by examining the ballots. In fact, in the Illinois case, the dented ballots were not counted at all.
"The judge did not count ballots that were indented because he could not determine the voters' intent," said attorney Burton Odelson, who represented challenger Rosemary Mulligan in the 1990 case. "From the beginning, I knew everybody [in Florida] was interpreting this case wrong and reading into it what they wanted to read into it."
. . . Late Tuesday [(November 21)], the Gore legal team pressed the issue further, asking a Cook County attorney involved in the Illinois case to sign an affidavit saying that dented ballots were ultimately approved in the Illinois case. The affidavit the attorney signed Wednesday [(November 22)] apparently was mistaken in its assertion that such ballots were counted.

You can't impeach a President because he:
- Won the election.
- Invaded your safe space.
- Built a wall.
- Fixed the economy.
- Exposes the fake news media.
- Asked a foreign leader to investigate corruption.
So close. It turns out you can be impeached if you "asked a foreign leader to investigate corruption."

It was said many days ago the whistleblower spoke to an aide of the Intelligence Committee in order to know the process; which official he/she should go to with his/her information. The whistleblower did not go to Schiff, only the aide. Now, none of you will believe Schiff does not know the name, but it is possible he does not know - the whistleblower has three lawyers now, trying to keep the name from being public knowledge. I think the whistle blower will be killed if the name is known. There are over 300 million people in this country, and some are killers. One name has been suggested as the whistle blower - would you want your name suggested with those over 300 million people thinking it is you?

I don't think you're obtuse @XenaLee . I think you are unable or unwilling to debate the fact that it's a memo and titled as such, and I think when President Trump says it's a word for word "transcript," and repeats it, and repeats it, you accept it. I would like to see the original in the super secret server. I don't know that I will see it, but I'm very certain the rats will see the "perfect call," in all it's glory. I don't trust the President because IMO he's got a huge track record of telling yarns. Really.
https://qz.com/1717869/why-its-wrong-to-call-the-white-house-ukraine-memo-a-transcript/On September 25, the White House released what it called a “full, unredacted transcript†of US president Donald Trump’s phone call with president Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine. In the fine print, though, it specifies that it’s “not a verbatim transcript of a discussion.†News outlets struggled to figure out what to call it, with the New York Times calling it a “reconstructed transcript†and the Washington Post saying “rough transcript.†Before long, #NotATranscript was trending on Twitter, as people recognized something fundamentally misleading in calling a document a “transcript†if it was not a verbatim record of what was said. But what’s behind this, and why does it matter?

Alexander S. Vindman, the top Ukraine expert on the National Security Council, told House impeachment investigators on Tuesday that the White House transcript of a July call between President Trump and Ukraine’s president omitted crucial words and phrases, and that his attempts to include them failed, according to three people familiar with the testimony.
The omissions, Colonel Vindman said, included Mr. Trump’s assertion that there were recordings of former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. discussing Ukraine corruption, and an explicit mention by Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, of Burisma Holdings, the energy company whose board employed Mr. Biden’s son Hunter.
Colonel Vindman, who appeared on Capitol Hill wearing his dark blue Army dress uniform and military ribbons, told House impeachment investigators that he tried to change the reconstructed transcript made by the White House staff to reflect the omissions. But while some of his edits appeared to have been successful, he said, those two corrections were not made.
