Title: STUNNING Move by Putin
Post by: Cyber Liberty on December 30, 2016, 04:13:16 pm
Putin refuses “to sink to the level of this irresponsible “kitchen” diplomacy.”

In a stunning move, the Russian President Vladimir Putin will not retaliate against Obama’s sanctions. They took the high road. Russia, they said, refuses “to sink to the level of this irresponsible “kitchen” diplomacy.”

The cagey President got all his licks in yesterday through his foreign minister and spokesman who talked of Obama’s “paranoia”.

Putin announces there will be no expulsion of US Diplomats in retaliation for President Stompy-Foot's move earlier this week.  Putin wants to wait for Trump before he makes any rash decisions, and cannot believe Obama is such a cry-baby.

Putin will retaliate, just not diplomatically.

It's likely.  From what I've read about President Stompy-Foot's expulsion of Russian Diplomats, it was because our Diplomats in Russia are being harassed, so Putin's already doing "it".  But saying he's waiting for Trump is a delicious snub, no matter how one feels about Trump.

That's well said.

At the least, Russia kept its cool; sometimes important to do in such situations.

I see Obama's acts as excessive and close to unhinged, one almost worries about any further escalation on this.

Love him or hate him, Putin did a lot to deescalate what Ostupid is trying to do, beyond this matter of expelling Diplomats (who are really spies).  A lot of other countries will now take Putin's lead and ignore whatever Ostupid does.  I don't think Putin could have given Trump a better Christmas gift.

CNN is reporting that Russian authorities have ordered the closing of the Anglo-American School of Moscow after the United States imposed major new sanctions on December 29 over Moscow's meddling in the U.S. election.

The school serves children of U.S., British, and Canadian embassy personnel.

It is also attended by children of other expatriates in Moscow and Russians, and will be closed to all, U.S. officials told CNN, adding that Russia is also closing access to a U.S. Embassy vacation house in Serebryany Bor, a wooded neighborhood in Moscow.

Once Obama and his goons are out of the picture, Congress and Trump will immediately go into 'cleanup' mode and fix all the firebombs Obama is throwing on his way out the door. The Democrats keep saying, "This can never be changed!" That is nonsense. There is nothing that Obama can possibly do that cannot be repealed and rolled back by Congress, Courts, and Trump.

Obama can throw all the crap on the walls that he wants to in his last few days. It will all be cleaned up and repainted once he is finally gone. We are all just waiting for the Sheriff to show up and kick his ass out.

All true. We have to stop thinking in traditional terms. Trump and his team will not be playing patty-cake with the RINOs. They are there to get things done, not to play games. They should be able to work around the RINOs, or simply step over them. I don't expect that it will be business as usual anymore. Graham and McCain will either join in, or they will be pushed aside and made irrelevant.

SCOTUS is about to change in a drastic way. Soon, Roberts will be irrelevant.

Geez Roberts is going to be around another 30-40 years. Trump maybe 8, he gets to replace Scalia possibly restoring the previous ideological balance to the court. For anything else to change at the SC one of the justices needs to die or retire. It is highly unlikely any of the liberal justices will retire during a Trump administration so thinking Trump will change the direction of the Court is unrealistic..

That is a funny thing you just said there. I have always had the impression that Obama, Soros, ValJar, someone, was blackmailing Roberts. But I never knew that others felt the same way. I thought it was just me.

But yes, now that we are on the topic, I do believe that someone is holding something on Roberts or his family. His decision on Obamacare was more than just wrong, it was utterly absurd.

However, the thing is, if Roberts is being blackmailed, the blackmail will still stand whether or not Obama is in office. We shall see, but it would not surprise me to see some changes in Judge Roberts position over the next year or couple of years. The only way he would be able to shake off whatever has a hold on him would be to step down. It may happen. I don't know. But I do think something will happen pretty soon.

Me too. 83 years old. Another couple of years and she'll look like Skeletor's mother Nancy Pelosi.

Ruth Joan Bader Ginsburg (born Joan Ruth Bader; March 15, 1933)
to put that in perspective, she was 12 years old when WWII ended.
By the time the mid-50's hit, she was 20 years old, which would make her too old to date Fonzie or go to the sock-hop.

Actually, the one I am watching is Kennedy. If Trump has a chance to replace him I can see a ideological shift on a lot of 5-4 cases. Replacing Scalia maintains the status que, replacing Kennedy could be a game changer...

Just four years ago, we were trashing Obama for playing 'cozy' with Putin; "after the election I'll have more flexibility". We trashed the left for mocking Romney's warning about Russia. Even Mattis warned that Russia was still the enemy and calling our weakness towards them "Strategic Atrophy".

Now, some on our side are taking the same line and attitude O took in 2012 and our side cheers.

WE are probably closer to being communists now than Russia is,and Russia and America share the same enemies and have a lot in common besides that. Russia SHOULD be one of our biggest allies now. @240B

I strongly suspect Roberts is one of Boy Jorge's homosexual pals, and that is the basis of the blackmail. It seems he had no dating or social life before he met and married his wife, and both of their children were adopted from Argentina.

I am certain there is a story there is anyone with a printing press or microphone and the free time and money to research it could discover.

Getting anyone to publish or broadcast it would be a hell of a lot harder than digging it up.

I was convinced Roberts would be nothing more than a tool from the day his nomination was announced. So were many others.

We don't have to be friends,  but we also don't have to be enemies, neither.

Back in the day our respective ideologies made us enemies, the fact that communism was almost an invasive religion and they were its high priest.

While I understand that today many in Russia may pine for the days they were the 800 lb gorilla in eastern Europe I'm really not sure why they need to be considered our mortal enemy today. A potential adversary requiring careful handling, maybe, but not an enemy to be opposed at every turn.

Hell, regarding how to deal with our true mortal enemy, Islam, I kinda like Russia's approach better than the one the west has taken these past 25 years.

Russia also, isn't fighting ISIS that much in Syria; their airliner went down over the Sinai and it is open to question as to whether that was a bombing or the Russians did it themselves to garner support for their actions in Syria.

As it goes, if a terrorist organization like ISIS downed an airliner, you'd think they'd go after them tooth and nail but that doesn't seem to be the case.

The term 'pull the pin' has a different, albeit same, meaning for us military types. I think we both agree, that things in America will be much different in a couple of years.

The strangest thing about a hand grenade, was training the recruits not to watch. They would always throw the grenade over the wall, and then try to climb the wall to watch it go off. It was a compulsion. They wanted to see it blow up. The problem with that is, if you can see it explode, then it can see you too.

Interesting point. I distinctly remember a guy in AIT that pulled the pin and dropped the grenade, of course the DI kicked  it into the pit, but I suppose that's why I get the hearing aids from the VA every 4-5  years....

@TomSea

We in the west had the PERFECT change to gain a VERY powerful ally after the USSR collapsed, but first Clinton and then Bush did everything they could do to screw Russia at every turn,so it shouldn't be any surprise they started distrusting us again.

With the Clinton/Gore criminal conspiracy,it was all about stealing World Bank funds and selling them rotten food and defective goods. With Bush it was all about backing the Muslims against Russia because the Sauds OWNED that SOB.

The US and Russia SHOULD have been allies against globalism and Islam. Together, with our resources we could have easily bankrupted the Muddle East to the point where they were once again too busy killing each other than killing anyone else, and stopping the spread of globalism. Especially given Russia's 70+ year experience with pushing globalism and what it cost them to do so. Unfortunately, globalism is what all the neo-cons were all about because they saw personal profits and empires coming out of selling our country down the drain.

I first went to Russia in 92,and as an American I was treated a LOT nicer there by the the typical Russian, and even by the Russian authorities I occasionally ran into than I would have been treated in NYC. Russians LOVED America, and were giddy with excitement at being free after all those years to try to develop a system where they could live like us.

After Clinton and then Bush, even Russians that moved to the US don't want to go back there to visit because of all the hostility towards Americans on the streets.

I certainly agree that we should not escalate tensions with Russia over this.

We have real enemies out there, it is time to get our priorities straight and a sort of glasnost with Russia might actually help the Russian people themselves.

And No, we shouldn't be carpetbaggers over there, exploiting the situation. I'm sure there are openings for some commerce; I'm not ruling that out but we/others shouldn't take advantage either.

There is a reason the British burned a lot of colonial churches.

"It was Sunday morning early in the year 1776.  In the church where Pastor Muhlenberg preached, it was a regular service for his congregation, but a quite different affair for Muhlenberg himself.  Muhlenberg's text for the day was Ecclesiastes 3 where it explains, 'To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven; a time to be born, and a time to die, a time to plant, and a time to pluck what is planted...'"

"Coming to the end of his sermon, Peter Muhlenberg turned to his congregation and said, 'In the language of the holy writ, there was a time for all things, a time to preach and a time to pray, but those times have passed away.'  As those assembled looked on, Pastor Muhlenberg declared, 'There is a time to fight, and that time is now coming!' Muhlenberg then proceeded to remove his robes revealing, to the shock of his congregation, a military uniform."

"Marching to the back of the church he declared, 'Who among you is with me?' On that day 300 men from his church stood up and joined Peter Muhlenberg. They eventually became the 8th Virginia Brigade fighting for liberty."

"Frederick Muhlenberg, Peter's brother, was against Peter's level of involvement in the war. Peter responded to Frederick writing, 'I am a Clergyman it is true, but I am a member of the Society as well as the poorest Layman, and my Liberty is as dear to me as any man, shall I then sit still and enjoy myself at Home when the best Blood of the Covenant is spilling? ...So far am I from thinking that I act wrong, I am convinced it is my duty to do so and duly I owe to God and my country."

Unfortunately, if some of us are labelled bigots per attitudes about Islam, it doesn't really insult us.

Buddhist Monks in Saffron Robes? Pagodas? Not really a problem. There's a reason for all of this.

Now, in the largely Buddhist country of Myanmar, I see some of the Muslims have fled and said they would never go back. I think we do try to look at things objectively.

Seems we are quite a bit off-topic, but I had to say so. We don't mean to be "mean" to one set of beliefs, just pragmatic.

We should discuss this, I know it bums some people out and then, they come here less; but it deserves discussion.

I do not use the word lightly.

According to Webster's, a bigot is "a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially :  one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance."

I think that definition fits pretty well for a fair number of those around here who constantly spout off about Islam, or immigration, or what have you.
