He's not just stunning he's fabulous. :smokin:
Putin will retaliate, just not diplomatically.
Putin refuses “to sink to the level of this irresponsible “kitchen” diplomacy.”
In a stunning move, the Russian President Vladimir Putin will not retaliate against Obama’s sanctions. They took the high road. Russia, they said, refuses “to sink to the level of this irresponsible “kitchen” diplomacy.”
The cagey President got all his licks in yesterday through his foreign minister and spokesman who talked of Obama’s “paranoia”.

I think it's one sign of our demise as a once more or less moral leader on the world stage into a has-been great nation . . .
that a Russian leaders shows more class than our current imposter, illegal immigrant, Marxist, gay, globalist, Destroyer-in-Chief.
That's well said.
At the least, Russia kept its cool; sometimes important to do in such situations.
I see Obama's acts as excessive and close to unhinged, one almost worries about any further escalation on this.

Anyone who thinks Putin has class or morals is just fooling themselves
He only seems that way when you look at him next to Obumbler. Yes, he's been that bad....
Putin has outlawed professions of faith outside the walls of church, even sharing your faith in your own home is illegal.

This country has been run by petulant children for the past 8 years.
Love him or hate him, Putin did a lot to deescalate what Ostupid is trying to do, beyond this matter of expelling Diplomats (who are really spies). A lot of other countries will now take Putin's lead and ignore whatever Ostupid does. I don't think Putin could have given Trump a better Christmas gift.
Hopefully the poor impression Obama is making here will also effect US public opinion of his other 11th hour shenanigans here at home, making it easier to undo them.

Once Obama and his goons are out of the picture, Congress and Trump will immediately go into 'cleanup' mode and fix all the firebombs Obama is throwing on his way out the door. The Democrats keep saying, "This can never be changed!" That is nonsense. There is nothing that Obama can possibly do that cannot be repealed and rolled back by Congress, Courts, and Trump.
Obama can throw all the crap on the walls that he wants to in his last few days. It will all be cleaned up and repainted once he is finally gone. We are all just waiting for the Sheriff to show up and kick his ass out.

@geronl
You really are obsessed with your hatred of Trump,ain't ya?
My comment had nothing to do with Trump. My comment is about the murderous tyrant named Putin.And that has been true back when Trump was just another NY Democrat.
Maybe you should read it again.

Only if the Pubbies in the Senate hold tough, and watching Linda and McStain over the past week has not given me much confidence. The courts are practically hopeless since Roberts took over.
SCOTUS is about to change in a drastic way. Soon, Roberts will be irrelevant.
All true. We have to stop thinking in traditional terms. Trump and his team will not be playing patty-cake with the RINOs. They are there to get things done, not to play games. They should be able to work around the RINOs, or simply step over them. I don't expect that it will be business as usual anymore. Graham and McCain will either join in, or they will be pushed aside and made irrelevant.

Maybe you should take up drinking and pistol shooting for a hobby?
It baffles me that so many on the right think Putin and Russia are our friends. They are the enemy..
The Chief Justice is never irrelevant. The Chief Justice sets the tone of the Court.
Only a hamstrung true believer in the Cult of Trump would think he was irrelevant.
Roberts is Chief Justice, so maybe yes, maybe no. It will be interesting to watch him when the guy who's been holding the blackmail leash leaves office.
Geez Roberts is going to be around another 30-40 years. Trump maybe 8, he gets to replace Scalia possibly restoring the previous ideological balance to the court. For anything else to change at the SC one of the justices needs to die or retire. It is highly unlikely any of the liberal justices will retire during a Trump administration so thinking Trump will change the direction of the Court is unrealistic..
That is a funny thing you just said there. I have always had the impression that Obama, Soros, ValJar, someone, was blackmailing Roberts. But I never knew that others felt the same way. I thought it was just me.
But yes, now that we are on the topic, I do believe that someone is holding something on Roberts or his family. His decision on Obamacare was more than just wrong, it was utterly absurd.
However, the thing is, if Roberts is being blackmailed, the blackmail will still stand whether or not Obama is in office. We shall see, but it would not surprise me to see some changes in Judge Roberts position over the next year or couple of years. The only way he would be able to shake off whatever has a hold on him would be to step down. It may happen. I don't know. But I do think something will happen pretty soon.
Three words: Ruth Bader Ginsburg
You really believe she will step down during a Trump administration? hmm
Three words: Ruth Bader Ginsburg
Have you seen her? I'll bet she kicks the bucket during a Trump administration.
Have you seen her? I'll bet she kicks the bucket during a Trump administration.
Whatever, saying Trump is going to remake the SC based on your opinion that she will croak my be a nice fantasy to grab on to but it has no basis in fact.. :whistle:
AKA, Sleeping beauty....
And that has been true back when Trump was just another NY Democrat.
Purely conjecture, I'll admit. Nobody knows when somebody's gonna croak, even in Death Penalty cases. She sure as HELL ain't going willingly with any (R) in office, I'll give you that. 888high58888

Golly. @geronl said you're fooling yourself if you think Putin is one of the good guys.
Interesting how you make a statement about Putin's behavior into a statement of "hatred of Trump."
Indeed they are, and have been for a very long time. It's useful to recollect Patton had a grudging respect for Rommel, while being bitter enemies.
@montanajoe
It baffles me why you or anyone else would still be sticking to that outmoded way of thinking. WE are probably closer to being communists now than Russia is,and Russia and America share the same enemies and have a lot in common besides that. Russia SHOULD be one of our biggest allies now. An alliance with Russia against the "New World Order" which is so beloved of the majorityof our alleged Republicans and their Dim allies would help us both stabilize and protect our nations.
That is a funny thing you just said there. I have always had the impression that Obama, Soros, ValJar, someone, was blackmailing Roberts. But I never knew that others felt the same way. I thought it was just me.

You guys know the Cold War has ended,and we won,right. The Communist Party is a minor political party in Russia now,and has virtually no influence or power.
We don't have to be friends, but we also don't have to be enemies, neither.
@geronl @r9etb
geronl's statement was in relation to a suggested cooperation between Trump and Putin. If Putin were calling for the overthrow of Trump,geronl would be a huge Putin fan. Practically everything he posts is related to his hatred of Trump.
I'm beginning to suspect his last name is Bush.

It's not just you.
Ever since his nearly inexplicable reversal on obamacare (Roberts originally wrote a draft to toss it, and then reversed himself), I'm wondering if they have something to use against him.
I sense it has something to do with his adopted child.
I also sense that Ginsberg may leave the Court sooner rather than later. She couldn't retire during obama's tenure because I sense that deep down she despises him and sees him for what he is -- a Jew-hating muslim. She did not want to give him the opportunity to appoint her successor, which might have very well been the "first muslim Justice". With Trump in, she may just decide to "pull the pin" (as we old railroaders say)...
The term 'pull the pin' has a different, albeit same, meaning for us military types. I think we both agree, that things in America will be much different in a couple of years.
The strangest thing about a hand grenade, was training the recruits not to watch. They would always throw the grenade over the wall, and then try to climb the wall to watch it go off. It was a compulsion. They wanted to see it blow up. The problem with that is, if you can see it explode, then it can see you too.
Interesting point. I distinctly remember a guy in AIT that pulled the pin and dropped the grenade, of course the DI kicked it into the pit, but I suppose that's why I get the hearing aids from the VA every 4-5 years....
Next you'll be telling me the 80's called, they want their foreign policy back.
I begin to wonder if you're even rational.
For the common man, Russia is not that good of a place I'd think, drinking bath oil killed about 60 people, their planes are apparently so-so in reliability, low standard of living, small businessmen go to jail over red tape or taxes. It's a kleptocracy, good for those on top but not below. So, a nationalistic fervor is used for the leaders to stay popular. Actually, they must have one of the biggest Muslim populations in Europe, one that Daniel Pipes estimates, could overtake the ethnic Russian one: http://www.danielpipes.org/blog/2005/08/predicting-a-majority-muslim-russia

I think a lot of people who defend Putin do so because they see it as defending Trump in some form or fashion
I don't believe in the fallacy of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend". I think Putin apologists are doing that.
Hell, regarding how to deal with our true mortal enemy, Islam, I kinda like Russia's approach better than the one the west has taken these past 25 years.
Stomping on everyones freedom of religion, banning the sharing of your faith outside of church, burning Bibles, jailing missionaries.... you "kinda like" that tyranny

I doubt they actually think through the hypocrisy of what they say. IMO, some of the worst aspects of TOS are showing up here, too. Best to name them now, and keep naming them.
Back in the day our respective ideologies made us enemies, the fact that communism was almost an invasive religion and they were its high priest.
While I understand that today many in Russia may pine for the days they were the 800 lb gorilla in eastern Europe I'm really not sure why they need to be considered our mortal enemy today. A potential adversary requiring careful handling, maybe, but not an enemy to be opposed at every turn.

@TomSea
We in the west had the PERFECT change to gain a VERY powerful ally after the USSR collapsed,but first Clinton and then Bush did everything they could do to screw Russia at every turn,so it shouldn't be any surprise they started distrusting us again.

There is a reason the British burned a lot of colonial churches.(http://i.imgur.com/PVKop8l.jpg)
"It was Sunday morning early in the year 1776. In the church where Pastor Muhlenberg preached, it was a regular service for his congregation, but a quite different affair for Muhlenberg himself. Muhlenberg's text for the day was Ecclesiastes 3 where it explains, 'To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven; a time to be born, and a time to die, a time to plant, and a time to pluck what is planted...'"
"Coming to the end of his sermon, Peter Muhlenberg turned to his congregation and said, 'In the language of the holy writ, there was a time for all things, a time to preach and a time to pray, but those times have passed away.' As those assembled looked on, Pastor Muhlenberg declared, 'There is a time to fight, and that time is now coming!' Muhlenberg then proceeded to remove his robes revealing, to the shock of his congregation, a military uniform."
"Marching to the back of the church he declared, 'Who among you is with me?' On that day 300 men from his church stood up and joined Peter Muhlenberg. They eventually became the 8th Virginia Brigade fighting for liberty."
"Frederick Muhlenberg, Peter's brother, was against Peter's level of involvement in the war. Peter responded to Frederick writing, 'I am a Clergyman it is true, but I am a member of the Society as well as the poorest Layman, and my Liberty is as dear to me as any man, shall I then sit still and enjoy myself at Home when the best Blood of the Covenant is spilling? ...So far am I from thinking that I act wrong, I am convinced it is my duty to do so and duly I owe to God and my country."
@r9etb @geronl
Ahhhh,good to see you guys coming out here and rating Islam to be a religion equal to Christianity and Judaism!
And to think that people call ME "anti-religious"!
Thanks,guys!
@Cripplecreek
COOL! Now you guys are coming out of your shells and equating the Founding Fathers with the Mullahs in Shitstainastan. Which means they are heroes we should all strive to be like.
Either that,or you are just mindless fools grabbing hold of anything you can grab to try to make Trump and his supporters look to be evil.
Which is it?
Or is it the third possibility,you are just too freaking stupid to be allowed to cross a street by yourselves? Speaking for myself,I am to the point where all I can say in respect to that is "Run,Forest,run! You can run faster than those cars coming,don't worry about it and don't even look at them!" Make America a better place,and just do it!
@sneakypete
The Elder Bush was not helpful either, insisting on a program of austerity for Russia instead of helping them get back on their feet. But Bill bombing Serbia to help Islam take over Kosovo was the last straw for Russia. I guess we can all thank Monica for that. Perhaps Trump can begin to repair the relationship. Russia is or rather should be, a natural ally of the USA, given an aggressive and expansive communist China.
Lots of folks make a big deal over the Crimean, they should check their history. The Crimean has been Russian since the time of Catharine the Great. Mexico has as good a claim on Texas as the Ukraine has on the Crimean.
I think "bigot" seems to be a better word.
In a nutshell, I was referring to Russia's inclination to name Islamic terrorism 'Islamic terrorism' while we are encouraged to call it 'workplace violence'.
Now why would anyone want to equate that with supporting persecution of Christian missionaries?

Ok,so you are bigots. I fail to see the distinction,but if it makes you happy.......
I wasn't referring to you.
Let me clarify: you're a bigot who apparently never outgrew scathing 3rd-grade retorts.

Thanks. I was confused because you quoted me,and I am the only one you "pinged".
I don't waste my time on that steaming pile of soiled diapers. I don't get paid for trash handling.
"Bigot" is a great word to apply to a political opponent. After a successful application of the word, the person so accused can no longer make any arguments and is effectively silenced. It's why leftists love to use the word. As can be seen here, TBR is not immune to the tactic.
Enough..or I will lock this thread....I am not going to bother editing posts as there are too many..
I do not use the word lightly.
According to Webster's, a bigot is "a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance."
I think that definition fits pretty well for a fair number of those around here who constantly spout off about Islam, or immigration, or what have you.
And I'm going to name it when I see it.
