A new rally is forming, “Million Vet March On The Memorials” that will be held 9am October 13, 2013 at the war memorials in Washington D.C.
The group is fed up with veterans being used as political pawns and are calling all patriots to attend, via their facebook page:

We are all military brats, current and former military spouses and some veterans. We cannot express how utterly disappointed we were that our Greatest Generation were being used as political pawns in the ongoing government shutdown and budget crisis. This should never be the case.
We do not care what political leanings you may be; be it liberal, conservative, Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Independent or whatever. The actions of the U.S. government this week with regard to barricading and shutting down the World War II Memorial to veterans, that may or may not be on their last trip to Washington DC, is a despicable act of cowardice.
Veterans this week were unwillingly pitted as pawns in this crisis. We feel that this should never be the case. This is why we will go to Congress after the budget crisis and ask for a bill to be introduced that would prevent any member of the government from closing our memorials down to any American, except for maintenance purposes. In the meantime, we will have our March in Washington DC on October 13th! Our veterans deserve that!
Many in our group have decided that enough is enough. We are Americans. We are proud of our heritage and our service. As all of us were military brats and spouses, we have served in some form or another our entire lives. This is our way of life. We will not stand by and let the U.S. government dishonor the legacy of sacrifice of the generations before us. It is time to make a stand! We hope that you will join us in our peaceful protest against anti-American policies.

Whatever 0rganization is behind this, ought to publish a list of Veterans Memorials and Cemeteries all over the Fruited Plains.
If you can't get to DC, try real hard to get to the locations in your area.

They haven't been calling them #Barrycades for nothing. There is a lot more anger directed at the President than is being reported on. (They've all but ignored that his approval ratings have dropped below Bush's for the same time during his presidency). Vets are smart enough to know that the shutdowns are coming right from the administration (the Secretary of the Interior who answers to the President is over the Park Service).

I am taking part in one tomorrow. We have a rather nice Veteran's Memorial in a local city park where it is to take place so I don't think the feds have anything to do with it, but I don't know.

We had a tiny Tea Party protest of the IRS here in our small city, and the feds showed up.
DHS vehicle labeled "POLICE" to monitor the behavior of a bunch of senior citizen patriots who don't want the IRS targeting them.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if the feds show up in as many places as possible.

Sarah Palin/ The Shark Tank By JAVIER MANJARRES Sunday’s rally at the WWII memorial in Washington, D.C., which was headlined by former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, has broken out in utter chaos, as both D.C. Metro and Park police attempted to shut down the event.
According to one of the Shark Tank’s correspondent on the ground, two police cruiser blocked entrance into WWII memorial, in an effort to stop truckers from arriving from the highway. Four marked Secret Service vehicles had arrived on the scene, joining dozens of law enforcement assets, who had already arrived, including a SWAT team dressing in full riot gear. Prior to SWAT arriving, the crowd was chanting “move those cars, move those cars,” which was possibly the reason why riot control was called in. Police blocked the road leading up to the WWII memorial from both directions, and had also detained, questioned, and subsequently released, a man dressed in full Muslim dress.
Sarah Palin, along with a few hundred of her closest friends, including Senators Ted Cruz and Mike lee, headed over to the Lincoln memorial, and busted down Obama’s barricades. Palin also engaged police, presumably to thank them for their service. In Orlando, Florida, Republican Congressional candidate, Jorge Bonilla, who is running against Democratic Congressman Alan Grayson, attended the local faith-based rally for veterans at the VA hospital.

There are always snipers on the roof of the White House along with ant-aircraft and more. The Secret Service are fine folks. They are protecting the office indifferent of what they think about who holds that office. Their presence has nothing to do with the march. This morning, Todd and I met with Senators Ted Cruz and Mike Lee, and they joined us and other Americans at the World War II Memorial and then at the Lincoln Memorial, where we were met by a SWAT team in full riot gear! Watching those who have fought to protect freedom prevented by barricades from visiting these memorials to freedom was truly heart wrenching. Seeing the unity of the American people as they joined together and rose up against this out of touch government was an inspiration. God bless our veterans, those who continue to serve, and their families.
I'll be posting an album of some photos from today. Below are the brief remarks I gave today:
We're here to show that the size of America's heart for our veterans is immeasurable! But look around – barricades to shut down our memorials? Is this how a Commander in Chief expresses his gratitude? This "shutdown" priority proves a shameful lack of respect. It reflects a person's lack of valor.
But, Vets, We the People have learned from you! We know America will only remain the "Home of the Free" so long as we are the "Home of the Brave!"
So, as we honor you, U.S. Military, know that our gratitude will not sleep! We will be brave! You were not timid, so we shall not be timid in calling out ANY who heart-wrenchingly would use you as pawns in a political game.
America's finest paid the price for our freedom today. Vets, you protected us from tyranny then. Rest now, it is OUR turn to protect against tyranny again.

I do not see the battle flag as a racist symbol - but uninformed America and the deeply-burrowed-in-Obama's-colon media do. For that reason, I suspect the person waving it was a Democrat plant, and his hope was to discredit the patriotic veterans and those who support them.

It is an issue I had back when the Tea Party movement started and some people on FR would revel in doing something at a rally that was provocative and then brag about it on FR afterwards. I just think there is a time to be above it all and on our best and most proper behavior to show the real differences between us and the crazies on the left. Agree. However, the media will distort the patriot message no mattter what behavior is exhibited. This is a truth difficult to accept. But true. Actions cannot be honed to expected media reaction--it never varies. IMO.
