Looks like adverse weather hitting here about now!
-
Beautiful, balmy and sunny in central NE Texas.
And, green! I've seldom seen it so green. It almost glows.
-
Today was a definite improvement
-
Nice and Cool here today, high of 71, right now it's apparently 68 degrees and cloudy.
-
Awfully windy in Sugar Land and Katy today
-
Yes, and summer just arrived!

We're on the waning end of the wildflower season, but Texas looks kinda like this right now:

Well, the corn is about 3' high, the wheat fields are already turning yellow, and we've had one very good hay cutting so far.
I love NH, but not the 18 months of winter every year.

Once on a summer trip to Canada, a lifeguard said they had just 3 seasons; July, August and Winter

In central Texas the bluebonnets are well past their prime, and have mostly been replaced with large swaths of yellow and orange flowers. Sorry I'm not a wildflower expert, so I have no idea what their names are. ^-^
I grew up in Northern Michigan (the Upper Peninsula). In my childhood the four seasons were: Spring (6 weeks, mid-April to end of May), Summer (3 months, June-August), Fall (6 weeks, September to mid-October) and Winter (mid-October to mid-April). It usually snowed before Halloween, and it was not uncommon to get snow well into May.
I don't really miss the cold weather.

I would guess that both flowers are different varieties of coreopsis.

I love NH, but not the 18 months of winter every year.
My nephew and his wife lived in NH in the early 2000’s, between Concord, Manchester and Portsmouth. I took a long weekend in late May of 2004 and flew up to visit them. The area, the countryside especially was beautiful and I really loved Portsmouth. We walked all around the town square and had lunch and then went to the Strawbery Banke Museum. I thought, “gee I could see me living here”. But then I learned about the winters. I can’t even deal with the winters in Maryland and Southern PA. **nononono* ^-^

Here we go again..........
Ah, that spring ritual of watching the ugly green and orange blobs march across the map of North Texas!
-

For the record, it's not my pic.
You may already know this having taken lots of pics, but the secret is the cloud cover. Direct sunlight creates a sheen on leaves and flower petals that washes out the color. Bright overcast (not too thick cloud cover) is a natural diffuser, so the light comes from all directions, and makes the best nature images.

I was thinking it was a screen shot, but I guess it's a live image when refreshed. Anyway....went to buy a new rain gauge today, since the hail pretty well took out mine....none to be had. I guess everyone is enjoying measuring the rain, for a change...lol. Beats knocking the dust out of the thing.
Regards.....
-
Anybody checked to see if hell has frozen over? It's 71 degrees here at almost noon in mid May. Weird.
-
Had two days of overcast mornings with beneficial rain. Sun came out yesterday afternoon and it's trying to do the same today in Medina.
-
We had some cold rain today, not too heavy, no lightening or thunder.
-
Just had some heavy rain, thunder and lightning over Medina. This is nothing compared to the big cell north of us heading for Fredericksburg. Lost satellite due to heavy rain but TV is back now.
-
The weather last night went insane, new leaks in the roof were discovered!

Yes, that was quite a light show!
A firetruck and ambulance parked out there during the storm, lights on, I don't think they found what they were looking for though.
Water reached the second step of the back porch, it was a lake out there.
-
My dog told me a storm was coming (is hiding under the bed) but it's still sunny for now.
-
Looks like we're in for another round tomorrow. Batten those hatches.

Nothing but warm breezes and mosquitos in Sugar Land tonight.
-
apparently it's coming tonight or in the morning...
-
Terrific. Looks like it's going to be rainy for the next three days, possibly starting tonight. At least the tree cutters finally showed up at Mom's today to get those trees down before the next round.
Thanks for the head's up Sanguine. :)
Stay dry!

May throw my annual Memorial Day brisket smoking out the window, just like last year.
-
Smoke it Sunday?
Yeah, I'll have 3 days off to try and squeeze it in.
But Saturday is Ice House day! LOL
Depending on the weather, could be ribs chicken, and sausage instead, but that'll do.
-
Forecasting rain Saturday and Monday, but it's Texas; so... They rarely get the weather right. Maybe you'll be able to do the brisket.
Unlimited, we both know how this will work:
If I buy a brisket, it will rain all 3 days.
If I don't, we won't get a drop!
-
Yep. So get the chickens and sausages and help the rest of us have a good weekend. :P
Absolutely, with an eye to the sky....
-
So, southeast Travis county and Bastrop county got dumped on with heavy rain and thunderstorms last night. Lots of flooded roads and some evacuations happening as the Colorado River is cresting above the flood stage near Smithville:

Hmm... must be Memorial Day coming up in Central Texas....

Yesterday was nervous-making, with my kid down in BCS. Thank God everyone was ok, but one of the subdivisions got hit.
-
Raining like Crazy here in Katy now.
Unfortunately, it looks like some of the places hit hard yesterday are getting hit again.
Looks like it isn't raining much at home in Sugar Land, from what the radar is showing.
-
I hope all of our Texas Briefers are safe and dry. Lots of flooding around here, but it's pretty sparsely populated, so I'm not aware of any serious problems.
Looks like our Memorial Day activities and BBQs are going to need to be in a covered area! More rain coming.
My jalapenos have managed to thrive in spite of not much sunshine lately. I'm sitting here having nachos with thin-sliced jalapenos sprinkled liberally over them, and crying and reading the news. They're so good!

My jalapeños get soft quicker than other years (water logged?).
Hope to fire up the smoker by Monday, maybe tomorrow.

I think we got about 4 inches of rain in Medina last night. Just saw pictures of the flooding in Bandera about twelve miles down SH 16. They got 10 inches of rain. Looks like Lake Medina is full.

My daughter was out to Fredericksburg all weekend and they were fine.
More rain this week. It's beginning to look like a jungle!
-
A nearby river was threatening with flood levels but should be safe by tomorrow night.... the day after that... possible rain... lol

Floods in Texas, Kansas leave at least 6 dead, 2 missing
HOUSTON (AP) — Authorities in central Texas have found two more bodies along flooded streams, bringing the death toll from flooding in the state to six.
It was unclear Sunday whether a body found in Travis County near Austin was one of the two people who had been missing in Texas. An 11-year-old boy was still missing in central Kansas, too.
The latest flooding victim identified by authorities was a woman who died when the car she was riding in was swept from the street by the flooded Cypress Creek about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Kendall County sheriff's Cpl. Reid Daly said.
The car, with three occupants, was in Comfort, about 45 miles north of San Antonio. The driver made it to shore, and a female passenger was rescued from a tree. But Daly said 23-year-old Florida Molima was missing until her body was found around 11 a.m. Sunday about 8 miles downstream. She became the sixth flood-related death in Texas over Memorial Day weekend....

We put in buffalo grass sod when we built our home. The little doggies needed a little yard space. It was a struggle to keep it alive in dry summers but now it is so tall, the little ones who do not like to get their feet wet, balk at going potty in the grass. Too wet to mow at this time. But the green is pretty.
-
Glad everyone is ok.
-
Torrential downpour right now in Medina. Medina River did some damage in Bandera a couple days ago. I bet the low water crossings are underwater.
-
Yes, and we can only imagine what the Kerrville Folk Festival looked like.

A mud pit, no doubt. My husband is going to leave for work in Kerrville. He may have to turn around and come home. I hope so because I am off today.

Guadalupe River in flood stage
Access now restricted to guided tours!
http://www.ksat.com/weather/guadalupe-river-in-new-braunfels-to-be-limited-to-guided-raft-trips
excerpted
NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas - Recreation on the Guadalupe River inside the New Braunfels city limits will be limited to guided raft trips beginning Tuesday, city officials said.
Water release from Canyon Lake due to flooding will make conditions for most forms of recreation, including tubing and most forms of rafting and kayaking, dangerous, city public information officer Sheri Masterson said.
More Weather Headlines
Starting at 7 p.m. Monday, incremental flood release increases will be made to achieve a flow of 2,500 cubic feet per second by midnight, Masterson said. The flow will increase to 5,000 cubic feet per second around 4 a.m. Tuesday and will be maintained at that rate until the lake flood pool drops to 911 feet.
Tubing on the river is a big part of the local economy

Should help the aquifers fill back up from the drought. The weather in Texas has been weird. Never saw as much rain in the San Antonio area as during the last two winters I spent there. Hope this next winter is different. At least where I park MY RV is usually high and dry.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbwyhBSt6wQ
Lake Medina was tragically dry- filled up some last May. This video is before this afternoon's rain- I think we got another 3 inches in Medina- which is not near the lake, but is 12 miles NW of Bandera. Drought or flood in Texas.

I looked at the data and normally Comal County is almost dry as a bone pretty much 10 months of the year. Lately, though, it's been raining a LOT!

Our subdivision is on the Guadalupe just north of Bulverde. Just got 1.95" in the last hour and still raining.

Did I see that even Buffalo Lake up near Amarillo has water in it again?

Wow.
Glad you have that big truck.

My husband made it to work 20 some miles from Medina to Kerrville on SH 16. There was standing water in places but the low water crossings were not flooded. Downstream may be another story.
-
Wow.
Glad you have that big truck.
Glad I have a full cupboard. Don't want to chance losing the toy.
Now if the wife can just get home from work.

A woman was killed in Austin yesterday while tubing on Barton Creek... she was pulled into a culvert by the force of the water and drowned.

NOPE! Up in the cool country. Windows open enjoying the fresh air with the smell of BBQ.

When I lived in Austin, I would hike along the completely dry Barton Creek in the loop 360/290 area for miles with my dogs in some years. Wonder which part of Barton Creek she was tubing.

Barton Springs pool manager Matt Miller (black shirt) and lifeguard Ceazar Kainz look at the pool bypass where a woman died Monday night. She was tubing Barton Springs, and was pulled down by the force of the water going through the bypass. Her body was recovered at the scene. The bypass was built to help keep the pool from flooding, but it still floods sometimes. The pool was closed Monday because it was flooding. LAURA SKELDING / AMERICAN-STATESMAN

@geronl @Sanguine
Just saw San Antonio news footage of Medina Lake- warnings of flooding downriver. Water still spilling over but floodgates closed for now.
Radar shows more rain headed in that direction.

This is why they pretty much said NO TUBING in my town because of the rain and the river level

How can someone be pulled through that strainer... never mind!

It's pouring in Austin right now. Ugly.

Looks like we might just get lighter rain for a while now... hopefully

We only have 2 roads in and out of our sub division. The wife is sitting at one of those right now with about 4' of water covering the road. Deputy said it might go down in the next hour but I told her to turn around and go have supper some where. If it's not down by the time she's back then she just needs to head back to town and spend the night. I'll have to suffer with the left over green chili pork roast we made yesterday. Hope there's tortillas left.

You might want to start gathering animals in pairs, too.
And measuring in cubits.....

You need a jet ski!
-
... and there's the sun... at least for a little while...
-
Sun is out temporarily in Medina as well. Soggy 7 day forecast- but glad for the break.
-
Hmmm...rain or hail. Both my folks and sister had severe hail damage several weeks ago near I10 and 1604. They haven't even gotten all THAT damage fixed yet. Glad I left at the end of Feb. But it took until Memorial Day up here to finally warm up.

Fort Bend residents seek higher ground, prepare for worst
Posted: May 31, 2016 1:17 PM CST Updated: May 31, 2016 1:17 PM CST
RICHMOND, Texas (KHOU) – Evacuations are underway in Fort Bend County as the Brazos River continues to flood its banks.
The river is expected to crest in Rosenberg and Richmond at some point Tuesday afternoon or evening, but several roads are already closed and some communities are taking on water.
Residents in Richmond’s Rio Vista community suddenly had water front property as the quickly rising Brazos began to take over, seeping up through sewer drains.
“This is the first time it's ever come up like this,” said resident Jennifer Torres.
“Well, it's concerning you know?” added Arturo Cano. “To say the least… but there's nothing we can do really.”
According to Alan Spears with the Fort Bend County Office of Emergency Management, once the banks are flooded waters will stay high for several days.
“This is one of those lifetime events,” said Spears. “We are kind of anticipating some things that we've never seen before.”...

Glad no one was inside. It amazes me how many people drown around here every year from trying to go through low water crossings.
The wife had to wait about 2 hours but the water dropped enough for her to get home last night. We went back out about an hour after that and the water was about a foot below the road surface. Funny how it dropped almost as fast as it rose. Of course round 2 (and possibly round 3 and 4) is on it's way.

Well the next round is in Medina now. I went into Kerrville and raced the black clouds home. It is raining hard now with thunder and lightning but it doesn't look too big on radar but more pop-up storms may form. It is headed east.
Glad your wife made it home safely. The Medina River crossing south of my house was underwater yesterday and may be again now.

Get the raft out cause there's more on the way. Just looked at the radar and it's purple over by Boerne so figure about an hour from now we'll be filling back up again.

Seriously, @geronl?

That storm passing Boerne died out as it was reaching me. I was out there looking at the dark clouds and feeling the wind from the front... and then... it sort of went away. It looks strange on the radar at weather.com

Not serious about the sandbags, I should have included :tongue2:

We got lots of wind but only about 1/2" of rain but it all came in a 30 minute period. Not nearly as hard as yesterday (almost 2" over 55 minutes) but still pretty fast and heavy. Lots of stuff down by Del Rio that looks headed our way though.

Prayers extended for the soldiers lost at Fort Hood. It saddens me to know they were in the same model truck as my avatar. Unfortunately 18-20 year olds think when someone tells them the truck can ford 40" of water they believe that's any water. While the truck weighs over 17k pounds it can be washed off a road with under 12" of MOVING water.

Saw that on the news last night....absolutely horrible.
We had a lady in Breckenridge die a couple of days ago in similar circumstances. Her husband was driving and drove into moving water. The water came up fast...he was able to get his handicapped son out of the truck, then went back for his wife and she had already perished. He then dragged her lifeless body for a mile to get it out of the water. Then our local tv station had the gile to interview him on tv......he could hardly talk..... I can't even imagine.......
-
I don't know what people are thinking when they try to drive through fast moving water
-
That's why here in Arizona we have 'Stupid Driver' laws. if you try to drive through a flooded wash and get stuck, and emergency services has to rescue you, you get stuck with the bill.

In San Antonio if you drive around a barrier blocking a flooded street it's a $400 fine. If you have to be rescued then you get the bill.

18-20 year old kids usually aren't out joy riding in military vehicles without some NCO in charge. No one should have been driving in or around Owl Creek when flash flooding is predicted. That's just crazy. I've seen tanks flipped over in those creeks.

Oh believe me I know. I don't know how many reports of survey I've done or seen that easily found negligence from pure stupidity. Some at Fort Hood very similar to this case. Incidentally, almost at the same location.

In San Antonio if you drive around a barrier blocking a flooded street it's a $400 fine. If you have to be rescued then you get the bill.
Actually, it's a Texas state law: driving around a flood barricade is a Class B misdemeanor. The penalty can be up to 180 days in jail and/or a fine of up to $2000, plus the cost of any rescue if one is necessary. I suspect that the municipality can set the actual penalty, up to the limits imposed by the State law.

I am officially tired of the rain
We are just getting what many of us prayed so hard for a couple of years ago!
I promised I would never complain about rain again but it is becoming difficult to keep that promise.
-
Wow, @thackney, I'll bet that does get old.
What is the dam around the house made of?
-
It is rubber material, like a thin tire. AquaDam.com
-
Our house, yes. 5 guys with me manning the pumps to control the seepage.
I'm 5 miles from the Brazos, 1.2 miles from Oyster Creek.
-
Do they have any idea if the Brazos has crested in your area? I saw on tv tonight that Lake Possum Kingdom (west of DFW), had opened all flood gates, which empties into the Brazos. Sadly there is more water likely headed your way. This has been unreal. Prayers for your safety buddy.
Yes, prayers for your safety!
-
Wow, @thackney, I'll bet that does get old.
What is the dam around the house made of?
As a guess I bet its inflated with an electric pump probably made like a giant inner-tube and on the outside its likely burlap or something

We used a large gasoline fueled pump to fill, borrowed from the local volunteer fire department. Still using and others to pump out the seepage.

Very close to cresting.
-
So very sorry you guys have to handle this flooding......praying.....
-
Another 2-3 inches in the Austin area tonight, falling at the rate of nearly an inch per hour. The lightning that accompanied the storms was enough to shut down the X-Games for the night, down at the Circuit of the Americas facility.

Very close to cresting.
small towns near rivers should have kevlar versions of that around them

Unreal! Where in the heck did you find the aqua dam and get it installed on such short notice? Bet that wasn't cheap. Cheaper than reinstalling drywall and painting though.
I am so glad that your house is going to be okay. Lose any animals in the barn?
P.S. You might see if aqua dam will cut you a better deal since you got them national advertising...lol.

And, are you doing OK, @Texas Yellow Rose ?
-
@Sanguine
We are drenched but there is no flooding. We are too far away from the rivers and in some places 40 feet above sea level. Alvin took 40 inches of rain in 24 hours back in 1979. Our home was one of the 5% or so that did not flood.
I found this video on Facebook which is interesting... Texas Flooding

Actually, considering the amount of damage it can prevent in a flood, that seems pretty reasonable.

I don't think that was Thackney being interviewed. I think it was the previous owner of the house from whom he bought the house. In a previous post Thackney said the previous owner bought the Aqua Dam in Louisiana.
Of course I could be wrong.
Besides...doesn't look like the same legs on tv and in the snake pic....lol.
Right about the first part. That was Randy holding the snake while I took the picture.

To hold back 24" of water, ~$19 a foot.
The difficulty in these situations is knowing what size you really need. 36" of water is more than double the price.
We pushed the limits on this one. Friday morning, after it started moving around, Randy called the company and told them we had about 28" of water against it. Their reply "OH, that's not good".
It was why we added all the sandbags and 2x4 bracing. Too much pressure and not enough weight at that point to keep it steady.
-

Yep. Our Flood insurance deductible is $5,000 for building and $5,000 on contents.
And we won't spend 4 months or so looking for a place to live while the home is rebuilt.
-
Good to hear from you Thackney, and hoping for lots of sunshine.
I'm guessing the water is receding pretty quickly now?

It drained just in time so you can have a weekend of mowing...lol. I bet the skeeters are going to be just awful there. Here in north central texas the skeeters are almost unbearable, after all of the rain. I sprayed both the front and back yards with a skeeter spray, that seemed to help a lot, but I sure wouldn't want to be out there at dawn or sunset. You'd be eaten alive.
Congrats on saving your house and, Lord willing, you won't ever have to use the Aqua Dam again.
I put out granulated garlic today. Smells like hell when you first put it out on the yard, but it keeps EVERY critter away, including mosquitoes.
You can also put out cedarcide chips. But I like the garlic because it's less expensive and IT WORKS!!! Even after you water it in, it continues to repel.

Sink, where do you get granulated garlic? The kind you cook with?

It's so hot!!
My brother-in-law had a dead battery, we carried the battery for a half-mile (might have killed me, lol). It was "fully charged" which means it's a bad cell and he really needs a new battery.
don't walk in this heat if you can help it
Although when there was shade, it felt awesome.

All that rain is fast becoming just a memory. However the mosquitoes refuse to do so.

We were at the Audie L Murphy VA Hospital yesterday set up for a car show. It only got to about 93 in the shade. Unfortunately there wasn't much shade out in the asphalt parking lot.
-
93 ain't too bad. It was 107 under my carport yesterday. :smokin:

Just had a nice little cell blow through Medina- heavy rain for about 20 minutes. Now I don't have to go out there and water.

Sorry, just now seeing this. Yes, the kind you cook with. You can buy it in large sizes at Sam's.
I've used it for years. It even works on mosquitoes. Cedarcide cedar chips do too, but they're more expensive and hard to find unless you have an organic nursery nearby.

I've used this Bonide Mosquito Beater product for several years in my yard and carry it when I travel in my motorhome.

At our place in Spring Branch (Comal County) we got .14" total. Sure hoping for a little more today and tomorrow. Thursday I need it dry for a trip to Ft Hood and back.

It's been a little unusual, very localized. It's raining now at work, but looking at the radar I would bet that it's not raining at our house a few miles away as the crow flies.
-
we had some rain yesterday and I thought I saw some gray clouds out there again.... that would be 3... 3! days in a row if we get some rain today.
-
After two months with no rain, I am grateful for the rain that started last night. Not a lot -but a little more today and hoping for more over the next few days.
A doe and her tiny fawn walked up to my front porch looking to munch on my mostly-deer-resistant plants. I could count every rib on mama.

Nah, I'm down here in the heel of the hand in Southeastern Jackson County. I'm right on the borderline of moderate and no drought.
It rained pretty good overnight but this has been one of those years where the rain peters out 5 or 10 miles away and leaves us with humidity.

What @Cripplecreek doesn't want to tell you is I was born and raised there, and moved to Phoenix in 1980.

Everything that was headed our way from Austin dried up before it ever got here. We got a spritz last night that didn't even wet the sidewalk but that's been about it.
-
Missed out on the afternoon and evening rain here is Medina. There must be a invisible rain shield over us. There was some moisture on the gravel this morning but nothing beneficial. Radar shows very spotty rain. Continue to hope we will be blessed.

I had to go check - got 1.25"!
Seems to be mostly east of 35. You've seen what's happening in Louisiana? They're getting your rain.

Received 1.2" of very much needed rain here yesterday and looking like more is on the way.
I sure hope so as we desperately need it!

It would be great if we could have taken some of that rain out here. Very sad for those affected in LA.

We've gotten right at 1" since yesterday afternoon. Supposed to be more on the way so hopefully it'll reach out to Medina.

Hey!!! Try to get the rain to stop for at least one day. We are trying to go to Schlitterbahn tomorrow and don't want to either freeze or drown....lol.
Funny. Were someone to tell me I had to go to Schlitterbahn, I would be hoping for it to pour and/or freeze!
-
So here just north of Austin we had a thunderstorm late Saturday afternoon, then rain off and on Saturday night through Sunday. It rained fairly steadily overnight and this morning, so far. Depending on the location it looks like we've received between 2-3 inches of rain since Saturday, and it's supposed to continue most of the week.
The best part though is that the temperature isn't expected to get above 80 today...
-
Funny. Were someone to tell me I had to go to Schlitterbahn, I would be hoping for it to pour and/or freeze!
Well so much for Schlitterbahn.......... Had to cancel the trip due to flooding on the Comal and it's too dang cold. Guess we'll try it again in a week or two. Here's hoping the rain moves up into West Texas. I'd sure hate to lose my dog in a crack in the yard...lol.

ENOUGH with the rain already!! I appreciate that there is no lightening and thundering but this is getting old

At least the latest storms cooled it off here in Michigan, now that I got my AC fixed after 4 days last week when the temps were in the upper 80's and low 90's with 75 percent or more humidity.

It hasn't gotten above 73 all day....it's sort of spooky....

Probably why I didn't see this one.

We got over 4.5" at the airport over night. Any time there's even minor flooding the fire dept spends all day rescuing idiots that think their Celica can go through 4' of water. Over 40 high water rescues so far today in San Antonio.

I know a few people who have that definition.
-
I hate rainy springs in SE Texas. Mowing becomes an issue.
It's already rained more here in Kentucky than it did some summers total in Midland. At times I think I need to build an Ark...and find a brush hog for my back yard.

Spoken like a true west Texas Texan. :happyhappy: :da man:

In SE Texas roughly a 1/3 of Aprils and early May are so wet that my riding mower needs floatation devices to perform its designated task....... :bullie smokin:

Parts of San Marcos got 7.3" of rain, we got around 3" here. The road looked like a river.

Yes, I saw photos of SM! Amazing!
I wonder if @Bigun and @thackney are OK? There would have been lots of rain where they are.

Tornadoes and snow don't seem to go together.

No, but it happens. So do clockwise direction tornadoes.

Its either that or take a ferry or a damn long drive.
The great lake levels are going to keep rising this year too.
Here's just how soaked Michigan is after spring storms

With that traffic you're not catching a ferry, and your chances at Ludington are nil too. No, you have to go around the horn (Shitcago, Milf*ckme) or find a hotel in Traverse. Better do that quickly, because those will sell out about as fast as the ferry rides.
Closures on the Mackinac are a disaster, for the folks reading this not from one of the Peninsulas. I hope they clear this up soon.

My mother says they used to wait for hours to get to the upper peninsula by ferry.
St Ignace is only 5 miles away from Mackinaw City but its a 10 or 12 hour drive without the bridge.

True dat. And most went 'round the horn. Just didn't expect to get a ticket to ride, so they took the day's journey.

Michigan is a big state depending on where you want to drive to.

@thackney
Just an FYI. I purchased one of those rain gauges such that you have in your pic a few months ago. It's consistently been 1/4 or more off. Next to it I have 2 glass basic gauges that always show 1/4 or more, MORE rain than the plastic one you have. I'm not sure if it's the funnel at the top that is causing this or what, but mine is on the way to the trash can. It's easy to read, but what good is it if it's not accurate.
Just sharing my experience.........

Gloomy, cloudy skies for two weeks, yet no rain for Medina. We could sure use it.

Thanks but close enough for my needs.

@mrpotatohead @thackney
If anyone is interested, you can purchase a very high quality rain gauge that measures down to .01" for about $30.00 at the link below. It's what I use.

Okay, now I fully expect something like that from Wingnut or Frank - but I have to say - I am surprised it was you.
Thanks for sharing some delightful middle-school humor that I never grew out of enjoying or laughing at.

I think the tropical storm name is spelled wrong. Supposed to be TS Johnson. Looks like a real monster.

@thackney I might need to borrow your inflatable flood barrier. It's been raining for practically a week straight here. Louisville and most of the small towns along the Ohio and Salt rivers are drowning.

We gots the needs for arks and canoes with tornadoes on the ground out this way tonite!

We haven't had any real rain in weeks. It's super dry, even for our dry season. I hope we come out of it soon. The pollen is horrible.

We have barely had any break from rain the past month and more. Not flooding but we are living in a swamp that won't dry. I cannot get the tractor into the stalls to use the loader to clean them out. I've dug a hole near it and put a sump pump down there but it isn't enough.

The forum was going through a hard time with all the raised arguments; so I thought I’d throw a bone over here to get everybody back into high spirit.
Can’t blame a girl for wishful thinking.
