Please think good thoughts for us on Saturday. we are going to meet a 14 yr old Cocker mix. We are hoping he will be a good fit with our dog Shadow. Shadow was the one that was abused as a pup by children. He has been having some anxiety issues and this other dog also has some anxiety, and we are hoping they will be goo d companion animals for each other.

Best wishes  happy77

Oh my goodness!  Way, way too cute!

Tomorrow is National Dog Day!

Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

We  met the dog we were interested in adopting. Our dog Shadow was just to reactive. Every time the other dog, Max, came up to him Shadow barked, growled or snapped at him. Max was a perfect Gentleman, and I am sad to say Shadow was just an @$$hole. I hope they find a good home for Max he is a great dog.

Sorry it didn't work out @verga

I've gone though three that just didn't work out. And now the subject is shelved while I recover.

Maybe try a pup. No hierarchy problem, and the older dog will likely accept the pup soon enough... And you get a staggered lifespan, carrying on from one to the other...

@Kamaji

Racoons are VERY friendly animals who are extremely easy to get along with,and to tame. One thing to keep in mind though,is to NEVER try to pick one up that doesn't know you. You will be VERY sorry if you do. Trust me on this one.

I feed the abandoned cats behind a local shopping center every day,and once I was catching cats in a capture cage to take them to the local vet for shots and neutering,and one day when I showed up to check my capture cage,damned if there wasn't a full-grown coon sitting in it,as calm as could be. As I am standing there wondering how I can open the cage and let him out without gettting eaten alive,I see something moving under his belly. Damned  if there weren't two feline kittens in the cage with him,and  both of them were hiding under him.

I finally managed to get the kittens out,and then I took the cage and drove a couple of miles up the road to let him out again. He ran away when I opened the door,but stopped maybe 20 feet away,and just sat there and looked at me until I got back in my truck and drove away.

You would THINK he would have killed and eaten the kittens,not tried to protect them,and they obviously were not afraid of him.

Once again,because it can NOT be said too often,DO NOT TRY TO PICK UP A RACOON THAT DOES NOT KNOW YOU! Trust me on this one.
Anyone who isn't paranoid in 2021 just isn't thinking clearly!
