This is how I got hooked on poodles. I love all dogs, but I knew I was too lazy to clean up dog hair. Also, I wear a lot of black, and I'd constantly be cleaning hair off my clothes. So I told the rescue outfits that I wanted a dog that didn't shed (I obviously had no knowledge of the various breeds in those days). One of them managed to scoop up a poodle that had been running the streets with a pack of dogs for quite a while. Her coat was matted down to her skin, and she was virtually shaved when I got her. I wasn't sure I could love her. Turns out I could. Actually, I adored her and all the poodles I've had since then. The grooming upkeep comes with the territory, but at least I don't have to do what I'd hate most -- deal with dog hair. I'm just too lazy for that!
