Texas lawmakers are calling for action to protect girls.

After the Biden administration rolled out a rewrite of Title IX rules, drastically changing it to give protections to biological men in women’s spaces, questions are circulating about how Texas will respond and protect women.

Last week, the Biden administration released a nearly 1,500-page rewrite of Title IX rules—the federal civil rights law designed originally to prohibit sex-based discrimination in education.

The new version would add “gender identity” as a protected class.

In response to the rewrite, Oklahoma’s State Superintendent Ryan Walters held a press conference informing people that they are “pursuing all action to oppose” the rewrite, and he has instructed all school districts not to comply with the new rule change.

“We will not allow boys in girls’ restrooms. We will not put boys in girls’ sports,” said Walters. “We will never allow Joe Biden to control our schools and indoctrinate our kids.”

Attorney General Ken Paxton Sues Biden Administration Over Title IX Rewrite

Texas Scorecard by  Emily Medeiros   | April 29, 2024

The lawsuit claims the new rule is an infringement on Texas’ sovereignty.

Attorney General Ken Paxton is suing the Biden administration after they rolled out a rewrite of Title IX, drastically changing the rules to protect biological men in women’s spaces.

Earlier this month, the Biden administration released a nearly 1,500-page rewrite of Title IX rules—the federal civil rights law designed to prohibit sex-based discrimination in education.

The new version would add “gender identity” as a protected class. It would also force schools to allow biological males to use female spaces. If a school refuses to comply, federal funding would be withheld.

With Biden’s new rule, the Department of Education is now turning to formally amend the Code of Federal Regulations, which Paxton says “violates federal law, ignores the constitution, and denies women the protections Title IX was intended to afford them.”

Unless the court blocks the Final Rule, it will take effect on August 1, 2024.

Gov. Greg Abbott orders Texas to ignore Biden administration’s new federal protections of LGBTQ+ students

The Texas Tribune by Sneha Dey April 29, 2024

The new Title IX rules expanded the definition of sex-based harassment. Texas is also suing the Biden administration to block the changes.

Gov. Greg Abbott ordered the Texas Education Agency on Monday to ignore a Biden administration rule that expanded federal sex discrimination protections to include LGBTQ+ students.

The Biden administration recently revised the rules for Title IX, the sweeping civil rights law that prohibits sex-based discrimination at federally funded colleges and K-12 schools. The new rules, which are set to go into effect in August, redefined sex discrimination and sex-based harassment to prevent misconduct based on sex stereotypes, pregnancy, gender identity and sexual orientation. It codifies initial guidance documents that prompted Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton to sue the Biden administration last year.

"Congress wrote Title IX to protect women. Biden, with no authority to do so, rewrote Title IX to protect men who identify as women," Abbott wrote Monday on social media platform X.

Abbott's order came the same day Paxton announced he had sued the Biden administration Monday to block the Title IX changes. Texas joins a growing number of Republican-led states that have berated the new rules, setting the stage for a legal fight over LGBTQ+ student protections. They say the Biden administration misinterpreted the intent of Title IX.

'Shocking and severe': Biden sued for creating new definition for 'sex'

WND 4/29/2024

'This all coming from the people who don't even know how to define the word woman'

Joe Biden is trying to change the definition of "sex" from the science-based facts that make a person male or female by virtue of their DNA and their body.

He wants it to mean anything that a person thinks.

For example, he claims that a man can become a woman simply by making that declaration.

But the agenda is creating problems for Biden, and his newly announced change in federal regulations is drawing a bunch of lawsuits, with more expected to come.

It's not that the dispute hasn't already reached the courts in a number of cases, it has. But the new development is Biden's complete re-creation of Title IX which now would, under Biden's plan, cater to the beliefs in transgenderism.
