After watching both for a number of years while in the Navy, I can say definitely there is a difference between the two. Whether on a carrier or on land, Navy carrier pilots approaches and landings are nothing but controlled crashes. On a carrier, the landing area is only about 300 feet so they don't waste time on making it look pretty. And that's the way they land at airfields so as not to lose he touch. AF pilots usually have 8-10,000 feet and can look pretty and look like they land to save tire usage.
