Part of me thinks that Biden arrived at the right conclusion (in telling Bibi to back off) but for all the wrong reasons (his re-election campaign). 

IF all the reports are true that only a few of the Iranian missiles got through and there was negligible damage and no injuries or deaths, then the Iranians look toothless and ridiculous against the Israelis, at least from the air.  And IF it was in fact a virtual wall of "AA" thrown up and coordinated by the Israelis, US, UK, Jordanians, and perhaps even the Saudis, then that has to also be a big strategic blow to the Iranians since their attack apparently blew up in their faces.  With that said, "take the win" is probably the best strategy right now for the Israelis, and in a perfect world, give them complete license to finish off Hamas in Rafah, while continuing to wage their shadow war against the IRGC.

As for the Iranians, they get to beat their chest that they retaliated and avenged their consulate in Syria, while scaring the bejezus out of their citizens.

Just some garbled thoughts this morning after the fact.

Which kinda tracks with this whole attack being  a "Kabuki" theater act to save face, knowing that the U.S. and Israel would be tipped off and would likely take out most or all of the drones and missiles.  I mean, why would you telegraph such an attack three days before the event to neighboring countries (like Saudia Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, and Jordan) if you actually wanted it to succeed.

I dunno...maybe I've just read too many Tom Clancy and Larry Bond novels over the years.

It isn't a trade for the $20,000 drone, it is what the drone otherwise hits that is where the cost tradeoff is.

It’s now pretty clear that the Iranian attack on Israel was an unmitigated disaster for Iran. It was an unbelievable humiliation. The world, and especially the region, saw Iran attempt to flex its muscles and fail miserably. The Arabs who helped Israel backed the strong horse, and that matters in that neighborhood. It’s also a huge vindication of Israeli and American technology. China will take notice.
But the Biden administration will take the wrong lesson, as usual, and attempt to block Israel’s righteous and necessary retaliation based on the failure of the attack. Ironically, this will all work make the mullahs even more dangerous as they seek to show they actually have the power to harm their enemies. Do not be surprised if they make a dash to build the Bomb while protected - even further funded – by Biden.

During the meeting, the members decided to use all possible channels of influence, to prevent Israel from launching a retaliatory attack against Iran.

Some points regarding the overnight Iranian missile attack on Israel:

1. Contrary to what pundits are saying, this wasn’t designed merely as “bells and whistles” with no damage.

When you shoot 350 flying objects timed to hit Israel at the same moment,
when you use three fundamentally different weapon types—cruise missiles, ballistic missiles and UAVs,
you’re looking to penetrate Israel’s defenses and kill Israelis.

2. The US administration is telling us: “This is a victory, you’ve already won by thwarting the missiles.
No need for any further action.”
No, it’s NOT a victory.
Yes, it’s a remarkable success of Israel’s air defense systems, but it’s not a victory.

When a bully tries to hit you 350 times and only succeeds seven time, you’ve NOT won.

You don’t win wars just by intercepting your enemy’s hits, nor do you deter it.
Your enemy will just try harder with more and better weapons and methods next time.
How DO you deter?
By exacting a deeply painful price.

3. It’s incorrect to say “nobody got hurt”.

4. The Islamic Republic of Iran made a big mistake.
For the past 30 years it’s been wreaking havoc on the region—through its proxies.
A terror-octopus whose head is Tehran, and its tentacles are in Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq, Syria and Gaza.
