California leads nation in unemployment after slower job growth than anticipated
Story by Bradford Betz • 9h

California now has the highest unemployment in the nation, after new data revealed that job growth in the Golden State was much lower in 2023 than previously believed.

Data from the state Employment Development Department indicates California reached 5.3% unemployment last month.

Meanwhile, federal data showed that California added just 50,000 jobs between September 2022 and September 2023, far less than the 300,000 initially shown.

California lost 2.7 million jobs at the start of the coronavirus pandemic, thanks to Gov. Gavin Newsom's draconian stay-at-home order that forced many businesses to close. Since then, the state has added 3 million jobs, per the EDD.

The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg.

Who would’ve thought taxing and regulating businesses to death and forcing them to other states would lead to high unemployment
I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

That 20 bucks an hour min wage sure drives employment gains.

It would probably have to get so bad that even the wealthy progressives in California start feeling the effects of their policies

They could regain their competitive standing if DC politicians imposed California laws on the whole country.

Not that I am cynical nor sarcastic, but what are the chances Gov. Greaseball takes a position in the Cabinet if Biden wins?  I can't imagine Newsome hanging around to clean up his own mess in Cali.

Um...emission controls on cars? California would regain their competitive standing if a whole lot of liberal/socialist/communists in the state decided to Jim Jones themselves, short of that
