Texas Congressman Introduces New Border Security Legislation

U.S. Rep. Roger Williams’ measure would require Border Patrol agents to screen and detain all illegal crossers to determine if they are on the Federal Terror Watchlist.

As more foreign nationals on the terror watchlist attempt to cross the southwest border, a Texas congressman has introduced legislation to require U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents to screen each individual crossing the border.

U.S. Rep. Roger Williams (TX-25) introduced the “Identifying Potential Terrorist at the Border Act of 2024.” The measure will require Border Patrol agents to detain all individuals attempting to cross the border until it is determined that they do not match with any individual on the Federal Terror Watchlist.

Currently, it is common practice for Border Patrol agents to screen each illegal alien they come in contact with. However, it is not explicitly stated in the law.

Williams says with the recent influx of terror-watchlisted individuals attempting to cross the border, agents need to screen them now more than ever.

“We are a land of laws, and it is past time this Administration acts like it,” said Williams. “Joe Biden is encouraging a deadly invasion of fighting-age men on American soil and each day this Democrat-created influx of illegal aliens allows bad actors to slip past Border Patrol undetected.”

I'm personally appalled that such a piece of legislation need even be contemplated much less written. What has become of this once great republic?
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."
