Obama gives Biden a helping hand with unique campaign event

Former President Barack Obama is supporting his former vice president in a unique way this campaign season: a virtual rally.
The Biden campaign has enlisted Obama and Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to vouch for President Joe Biden’s healthcare record. Biden, Obama, and Pelosi will rally with supporters virtually this Saturday to celebrate the 14-year anniversary of Obamacare.
The Biden campaign views Biden’s healthcare record as a positive they can run on going into November. The anniversary events include digital campaign ads and events across eight swing states the Biden campaign views as a “must win.”
“The Affordable Care Act is so significant for both of them,” Jen O’Malley Dillon, chairwoman of Biden’s reelection campaign, told Politico. “It really shows what it means to have leaders fighting for you and doing things people thought were impossible.”
Despite Obamacare’s unpopularity when first enacted, it is popular today with enrollment 50% higher than when it faced a repeal attempt in 2017. Florida and Texas, Republican-controlled states, have the highest enrollment in the country.
