Trump promotes abortion compromise as Democrats push issue in 2024 race
Trump reportedly discussed a 16-week abortion ban with advisers

Former President Donald Trump weighed in on the abortion debate, which has been a politically fraught subject for Republicans.

Reports claim Trump has discussed having a ban on abortions after 16 weeks of pregnancy with three exceptions: rape, incest and the life of the mother.

"Pretty soon, I'm going to be making a decision. And I would like to see if we could do that at all. I would like to see if we could make both sides happy," Trump said on "MediaBuzz" Sunday.

We already have an abortion compromise.  States that want to restrict abortion can restrict abortion.  States that don't want to restrict abortion can choose not to.  The only problem here is that those supporting unrestricted abortion aren't satisfied with doing it only for their States, but demand that it be forced upon every other State.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
Each state, by SCOTUS ruling, can make its own rules.

Should be the end of the Federal part in all this, or is the Federal Government, once again, going to impose its will on the Rights of the States to determine their own government and laws?

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

I have yet to see any evidence that MAGA has an interest in winning elections.  Otherwise this would be the dumbest move the orange king has made, raising the spectre of a federal abortion ban, when any sensible conservative wants to leave it under the purview of state law.

And so goes the single shining thing left from The 'great' MAGA movement. The ONLY thing they got done from the entire enterprise. Today it's back on the table for Tumpy to wheel and deal with.

What an enormous waste of time. And here we go again.
