President Joe Biden and his defenders have long insisted that he never met any of his son’s partners and Biden family members did not get money from China, often shifting the goalposts as claims were contested by evidence. Now, testimony from both his son Hunter Biden, and brother James Biden, confirms each of these points in the face of the denials from the family patriarch.
“My son has not made money in terms of this thing about — what are you talking about — China. I have not had it," Biden declared during an October 2019 debate with then President Donald Trump. He has maintained the claim for years afterwards that his family never received money from China.
Here are key pieces central to the House impeachment inquiry investigators confirmed by both Hunter and James Biden in transcripts released this week:
Hunter Biden admitted he received a $250,000 wire from the CEO of a Chinese state-backed investment fund, Jonathan Li.
He confirmed that five weeks after the end of his father’s term, he received a share of a $3 million payment sent by State Energy HK Limited to an entity owned by his business partner.
Hunter Biden confirmed he entered a partnership with Ye Jianming, the chairman of CEFC China Energy, a company closely connected to the Chinese government and communist party.

James Biden confirmed two “loans” he allegedly received from his brother, Joe Biden. One loan was for $200,000 and the other was for $40,000.
James Biden confirmed a $200,000 loan from the failing healthcare company Americore was used to fund a loan repayment to his brother.
