The mystery of Trump-hate
By David Carlin

I can understand why millions of people don’t like Donald Trump.

After all, he has many traits of personality and moral character that are easy to dislike.  I too dislike him — even though I voted for him in 2020 and will very probably vote for him again in 2024.

I can even understand why many people dislike him so much that, despite the fact that they can name nothing they object to in the policies he followed when he was president, they didn’t vote for him in 2020 and wouldn’t dream of voting for him in 2024.  Something about his person they find so obnoxious that they cannot be bothered to examine his policies.

What I cannot understand, however, despite having tried hard to achieve such an understanding, is why many people, probably millions, go so far in their dislike of Trump that they actually HATE him.  They hate him as if he is the incarnation of pure evil.  Now, I could understand this hatred if he had personally poisoned their dogs or at least stolen lollipops from their little children.  But he hasn’t done this.

If you ask these Trump-haters what he has done to merit their great hatred, they will answer, not with something he has actually done, but with things he is going to do if elected president again.

Those who hate Trump emotionally invested in the inevitability of President Hillary Clinton.  Trump was a pigeon who crapped on their heads.

Hillary rigged the 2016 Dem Primary.  She thought she would be able to sleep walk through the General Election, but she forgot that it's the voters who decide, not the Clintons nor the Clinton apparatchiks.

Unmet expectations become resentments.

I don't hate Trump but I intensely dislike him because he is loyal only to himself (and his family perhaps) and has no morals, principles, scruples, or knowledge about anything other than real estate, casinos, sports, and dealmaking.  And he also admires dictators and strong men and tries to emulate them.

The record. That's all I need is the record. No way in hell I would endorse that the first time, not to mention again.

Covid was a real eyeopener.  He had no principles to guide him because he really doesn't believe in anything except himself.  I don't think he even cared what the policies actually were -- he just cared about his popularity.  So rather than leading, he simply let himself be led by whatever he thought the majority of people would support in the short term.  Long term....well, he was just trying to get through November.

That's really *it*. All of it. I don't care who you are, the historic, I mean *HISTORIC* damage done to treasure and liberty should be an abject lesson in what happens when government gets big enough to take everything you have.

No way that's alright. And no way in hell I want that ever again.
