House Intelligence Committee chair warns of a serious national security threat

WASHINGTON (AP) — The head of the House Intelligence Committee said Wednesday he had information about a serious national security threat and urged the administration to declassify the information so the U.S. and its allies can openly discuss how to respond.

Rep. Mike Turner, an Ohio Republican, gave no details about the nature of the threat in his statement. The White House also declined to provide details.

Turner earlier Wednesday sent an email to members of Congress saying his committee had “identified an urgent matter with regard to a destabilizing foreign military capability” that should be known to all congressional policy makers. He encouraged them to come to a SCIF, a secure area, to review the intelligence. He again provided no details.

Turner’s announcement appeared to catch the Biden administration off-guard. ...

House Intelligence Committee Chair Mike Turner has made information concerning a “serious national security threat” available to all members of Congress to review, the committee said on Wednesday.

While Turner and the White House remained vague on what the threat entailed, two sources and a US official tell CNN the threat is related to Russia. Multiple sources familiar with the intelligence characterized it as “very sensitive.”

One of the sources who has seen the intelligence confirmed that “it is, in fact, a highly concerning and destabilizing” Russian capability “that we were recently made aware of.”  ...

A day after the Senate passed a massively unpopular 95 billion dollar foreign aid package with billions for Ukraine, and a week after Putin gave one of the most widely viewed interviews of all time to Tucker Carlson, there is now a "serious national security threat" related to Russia.

Let me guess: it will just so happen that we need 95 billion dollars in foreign aid to neutralize this threat

As long as Joe is CIC, this war is going to continue to cost us $$; Joe and others and IMHO Zelenskky have funneled $$ into their own pockets.  I couldn't find current statistics, but giving them billions off and on, I wonder if we've hit the trillion dollar mark in aid to Ukraine?

Enough is enough.  This is NOT our war nor the responsibility of the U.S. to keep funding it!

If anyone watched the Carlson interview of Putin, I don't think that this is a war that Ukraine/Nato and or the West is going to win. Joe is 'stupid' in Putin's eyes and he is.  He knows how weak the U.S. is and so does Zelenskyy.  From my perception, Russia's economy isn't hurting, ours is -- we keep printing $$ which is absurd.

The National Security Threat reportedly involves the Russian Military attempting the Deployment of Nuclear Weapons into Space for use against Satellites.

Russia has been hacking and using hypersonic missiles in Ukraine for a while.  Russia has been actively working against US interests and working with America's enemies for the past 20 years.

Why is Russia a sudden threat?  What changed between yesterday and today?  Could it have anything to do with a post-dated, out-of-state $95billion check for Ukraine that requires House approval?

Protect America's borders before Ukraine's, Tawain's, and Israel's.  If Biden really wants the money, he'll have to relent as long as the GOP holds the line.

The US Government works for US voters and taxpayers - not the United Nations, not NATO, not SEATO, or any other multinational entity,

Take care of America first.

Biden needs to be held to account for his Open Border, America Last, and Americans Last policies.

White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan dodged questions about a "serious national security threat" that President Biden's administration notified Congress about on Wednesday.

The House Intelligence Committee told all members of Congress that its leaders had been informed of the situation on Wednesday, and Chairman Mike Turner called on Biden to declassify information about the threat for the American public.

Reporters pressed Sullivan to provide details about the threat, but he did not budge.

"What can you say about the threat and what the administration plans to do?" a reporter asked.

More: source confirms the US has been tracking this threat for “some time” – (waived off my question of whether emergence of this news was triggered by Ukraine funding fight, FISA Section 702 reauthorization, or any other legislative matter) – but perhaps more notably, I have not gotten clear answers on whether the administration has shared this threat information with allies and partners.
