Finally! Biden to Visit Site of East Palestine, Ohio, Train Derailment

President Joe Biden will visit East Palestine, Ohio, to mark the one-year anniversary of the devastating train derailment, the White House announced Wednesday.

Biden will meet with residents impacted by the derailment and the hazardous chemicals that were subsequently spilled into the community as a result, Bloomberg News reports.

The White House said Biden will address his administration’s progress in working with state and local leaders to protect the community and hold Norfolk Southern accountable for their actions.

Biden was heavily criticized at the time of the incident for never visiting the community in the weeks and months that followed the February 3, 2023, disaster.

He sent Bicycle Pete to East Palestine last February. I don't believe the town has heard much from the federal government since then. But now Biden desperately needs to campaign in Ohio, so here we are.

In September, Biden insisted he hadn’t had the time to go to East Palestine, saying, “I haven't had the occasion to go to East Palestine. There's a lot going on.”

He had just spent much of August on vacation.

So the Dems must have some Ohio fundraiser scheduled.  And Biden can defray his travel costs off onto the American taxpayer by making an 'official' trip out of it.

President Joe Biden flies into East Palestine, Ohio, on Friday to address mounting criticism he has ignored the victims of an explosive fire caused by a train derailment over one year ago.

The long-promised visit will be Biden’s first interaction with voters on the ground since a special counsel’s report last week questioned the mental acuity of the octogenarian president, as Breitbart News reported.

AP reports Biden, 81, goes to the village of 5,000 at the invitation of its mayor and as the Environmental Protection Agency remains engaged in an extensive cleanup paid for by the train company, Norfolk Southern.

Republicans have long blasted Biden for not visiting sooner and there are some enduring tensions in the community with locals angry they have been ignored by the White House.
