Denver Program That’s Given $6.5 Million in Cash Payments to Immigrants and Homeless People Renewed
Many participants have been able to get off the streets and into housing thanks to the grants
A program giving direct cash payments to Denver's homeless and migrant populations has been extended for six months, having already distributed over $6.5 million.
The Denver Basic Income Project (DBIP) announced the extension on Tuesday, saying it will keep on helping over 800 people thanks to community fundraising.
Payments range from $50 to $1,000 per month, depending on how dependents are assessed and classified.
“We’re thrilled to be able to continue this groundbreaking project in 2024, and we’re immensely proud of the significant impact that we have in just one year in Denver,” DBIP founder and Executive Director Mark Donovan said in a news release.

I'm really surprised it includes American homeless. Or is that for propaganda purposes only?

I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.

This just makes me wonder if there isn't someone up in Vail, dressing up (well, down) and making trips down the hill to pay the bills...

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
