Just moments after Donald Trump arrived at Manhattan federal court Monday morning to sit in on a civil defamation trial against him, Judge Lewis Kaplan canceled the day’s proceedings because of “COVID exposure.”
The former president and GOP 2024 frontrunner’s lawyer Alina Habba — who wasn’t wearing a mask — told the judge that she had dinner with her parents three nights earlier, and that they tested positive for the virus.
A jury is set to decide how much in damages Trump must pay E. Jean Carroll, after he was found liable for sexual abuse and defamation against the former magazine writer and advice columnist last year.
Carroll is seeking $10 million.
