Andrew Cuomo Sues AG Letitia James for Records From Sex Harassment Probe
Cuomo is seeking the material to defend himself in two harassment lawsuits filed against him

Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo filed a lawsuit against New York Attorney General Letitia James on Thursday seeking records from some 180 interviews in her investigation into sexual harassment complaints against him that led to the Democratic governor's resignation in 2021.
Cuomo is arguing that he needs the materials to "defend himself in two sexual harassment lawsuits that stem directly from the Office of the Attorney General's" investigation and report."
"Despite Respondent James’ August 3, 2021 public promise to release those materials, Respondent James has no intention of releasing those materials," the lawsuit stated.
Cuomo's complaint, filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, seeks an order forcing James’ office to release the records that the suit argues is required by the state's Freedom of Information Law.
Cuomo attempted to obtain the files last year as well, but his request was rejected by a federal judge.
The suit argues that the "public has both a right and interest in knowing the work of Respondents and Respondents’ full basis" in making the accusations against him — and that the witness statements are “critical” to Cuomo’s defense in two harassment complaints against him.
