Just a reminder why you get out if you smell gas.

One little spark and the structure could experience an unscheduled premature (pyrotechnic) disassembly, with you in it.
How God must weep at humans' folly! Stand fast! God knows what he is doing!
Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

And don't be shuffling across the carpet in your socks and zap the cat!

 pointing-up

To be clear, that's ONLY if you smell gas. Gas that is not your own.
The rest of the time, it's fine to drag your feet and zap the cat all you like.

But not the dog.
Alright... Maybe a couple times, but not very much, the dog.
