President Joe Biden’s border chief has a deal for the GOP: He will carefully cap illegal migration at one million a year if the GOP approves $61 billion for war in Ukraine, according to press reports.

The offer would double pre-2021 immigration numbers, but it is a “good faith offer,” said one of the four GOP negotiators told reporters.


“We’re at 11,000” illegal migrants per day or roughly 4 million migrants in a year, Sen. Thom Tillis told CBS on December 13, adding:

We’ve seen what the White House has sent over … We’ve got to get somewhere closer to … 2,000 [migrants] a day [or 700,000 a year], and let’s figure out how we get it done. But I think I’m going take it as a good faith offer, which is why I think we have to act in good faith and stay here [in Washington] until we get it negotiated.

Tillis is a long-standing supporter of the federal migration programs that deliver cheap labor to investors and companies.

Does anyone believe for one second that a government which is supposed to stop all illegals now but stops virtually none will stop admitting them after 1 million?  That is the most insane idea the government has tried to screw the American people with in quite some time, 9999hair out0000

No, I don't.  And there isn't a damn thing the GOP could do if the Dems refused to enforce their end of it absent building in statutory standing for states to somehow force compliance.

What is really needed is an Amendment, though that isn't possible in the short term.

I support more aid to Ukraine but we should try to extract some actual legislation relating to asylum, etc..  We can't stop them from turning a blind eye at the actual border, but changing the law in some respects can still help.

America is allegedly a nation of laws.  If someone violates America's immigration laws, they have committed a crime and have forfeited any justification for remaining in the United States.

Asylum should be adjudicated before they enter the United States.

Would the Federal Government allow 1 million people to not file or to not pay taxes without consequences every year?

Would banks allow 1 million people to default on their mortgages every year without foreclosure?

Why do I have to live by one set of laws while others get to skate under Dem largesse?

What's the point of a legal system if the laws are not equally applied?  Unequal application of the law is injustice.
