SpaceX Is Worth $175 Billion. Only Boeing Is Bigger.

Stock of Elon Musk’s rocket company SpaceX is now worth a cool $175 billion. That’s more than any other aerospace-and-defense company in the West, and maybe in the world.

SpaceX stock, which isn’t publicly traded, is being valued at $95 a share in a secondary sale, according to Bloomberg. That is a sale by people who already own the stock. SpaceX isn’t raising money. Stocks that trade publicly on an exchange such as the Nasdaq are all secondary trades, too.

SpaceX didn’t immediately return a request for comment about the sale or valuation.

Valuing publicly and privately held companies are a similar process, and SpaceX, based on the $95 price per share, has about 1.85 billion shares outstanding.
