UNLV shooting live updates: Suspect is dead as multiple victims are reported by Las Vegas police
UNLV is asking people on campus to shelter in place despite police reports that the suspect has been contained.

    The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is responding to reports of an active shooter on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
    The shooting occurred near Beam Hall.
    There appear to be multiple victims, police said in a post on X.
    Police said the suspect has been located and is dead.

Police have confirmed there is no further threat. Police ask that you continue to please shelter in place. Police are evacuating buildings one at a time. This remains an active investigation.

Continue to shelter-in-place. Police Services continues to respond and clear buildings systematically.

UPDATE: UNLV and all NSHE institutions in southern Nevada only are closed for the remainder of the day. All classes and events have been cancelled.

Note that we are told the shooter was a 'they', really was the shooter a he or she, and as for not knowing the motive weren't we told in the story that the college professor was denied a job at UNLV? I would imagine that the nature of the victims, whether they were college employees and if so which department should pretty much confirm motive....but that's just me  :shrug: I guess it's a good thing this 'professor' wasn't a teacher of organic or other chemistry.

The madman who slaughtered three people in a mass shooting at the University of Nevada Las Vegas on Wednesday was a professor who failed to secure a job at the school and claimed to have solved the mystery of the Zodiac Killer and missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370.

Investigators determined the victims were not students, but faculty or staff at the school, which may be investigated as a potential motive for the shooting.
