MARCO ISLAND, Fla. – Gov. Ron DeSantis held a press conference Tuesday to unveil the $114.4 billion “Focus on Florida’s Future” budget for 2024-2025.

The upcoming budget is less than the previous year, DeSantis said. Last year, the Framework for Freedom Budget totaled $116.5 billion.

The governor said his budget would induce a surplus of $16.3 billion.

DeSantis said the amount always ends up higher, because “the economy here does better than in other parts of the country.”

Under the budget, $455 million would be pledged to the Accelerated Debt Repayment Program.

Over 1,000 positions will be eliminated throughout the state government to “help us realign resources to focus on efficiency,” the governor said.  ...

Why anyone would select Trump over DeSantis is beyond me. What it truly boils down to is opting for a liberal who is proposing socialist plans or opting for a true fiscal conservative with a proven conservative record.

Because for most of Trump's base, it's all emotional. It's a desire to use the arm of the federal government to enact retribution on their opponents. They want nothing more than a "verbal bomb thrower." They just want to "own the libs."

Reducing the size of government and cutting spending are conservative positions. MAGAs want more spending and printing regardless of the consequences as long as the money is spent on them and not the brown people
