ew York City is pioneering a transformative initiative to combat housing shortages. The city is introducing a groundbreaking pilot program aimed at assisting homeowners in constructing accessory dwelling units (ADUs), commonly referred to as “granny flats.”

This innovative endeavor will provide financial support to 15 homeowners, offering each up to $395,000 to develop an additional residential unit on their property. The program responds to the urgent need for increased housing density within the city, aiming to diversify housing options in a bid to alleviate the current housing crisis.
 
The concept of ADUs encompasses a spectrum of possibilities, including the conversion of existing spaces within homes such as garages, basements, or attics, as well as the construction of tiny homes in backyards. This multifaceted approach is designed to address the unique spatial constraints and demands of New York City, offering a flexible solution to the shortage of affordable housing.

Agreed, although I was under the impression they grandfathered those in and got rid of it a while ago.

Switch to mixed use zoning and get rid of density restrictions too.

Which will be filled with  illegal aliens who will be getting welfare checks,"free" food,"free"  housing,and "free" medical care,in addition to "free"utilities.

Nothing helps property values like building lean-to's for illegal immigrants on your own property. /s  This mayor is dumber than a box of rocks.  Well, maybe not as dumb as anyone taking him up on the offer.

All the Blue States rant on and on about moving illegals into your home and onto your property. The weird part is they NEVER discuss for how long or how and when they will leave. There is never an 'end date'. Getting illegals on your property is easy. Getting squatters off your property is all but impossible. Eventually they will try to claim your house. And with the clownish legal system in America today, they may just get it. Then you will be homeless, depending on illegals to let you stay somewhere.

Homeless, illegals, even relatives, once they move-in they are there forever. You cannot make them leave even if they are loud dope smoking criminals. Always remember that Democrats favor illegals much more than they care about citizens.
