I couldn't agree with you more; watching the news, they are definitely trying to downplay this incident and you are right, we'll never get the full story.

I in times of boredom have watched many car crashes on youtube but have yet to see a high speed crash like this one that pretty much left nothing but the engine block behind. To push the idea that there was nothing to see here, no bomb, no terrorist, just a plain old car crash is ridiculous

The car explosion at Niagara Falls yesterday has conclusively been ruled not an act of terrorism by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Spencer wrote how a car explosion at the Rainbow Bridge border crossing triggered reports of a possible terror attack. There were also rumors that the vehicle was packed with explosives. New camera footage cast doubt on the terrorism angle, with the FBI describing the situation as “fluid” initially.

When the terrorism narrative began to fray, the new theory was that this was a stolen vehicle, where the two occupants, both killed in the crash, were trying to speed past the checkpoint into Canada, which explains the erratic driving. The car is shown striking something, possibly a barrier, making it go airborne before catching fire and exploding.

The FBI said that no explosives were ever in the vehicle and that no “terrorism nexus” could be identified.

The news was shocking, especially as millions are still traveling for Thanksgiving. In the wake of the Israel-Hamas war and the increased terror threats that have arisen from that conflict, it wouldn’t have shocked me if this was an act of terrorism. Blessedly, it wasn’t, but it wasn’t a far-fetched theory. We’ve already had two Palestinians either commit acts of domestic terrorism or plan to carry out one. One Indianapolis woman crashed into what she thought was a Jewish school for her people. In Houston, Texas, a radical Palestinian was able to acquire firearms illegally and planned to attack the local Jewish community.

Investigators believe that the $300,000 Bentley that was crashed at a Niagara Falls border checkpoint — exploding in a fireball that caused major panic and killed the wealthy New York couple inside — may have suffered mechanical failure, according to the local mayor.

The FBI confirmed within hours of Wednesday’s fiery crash at the Rainbow Bridge that it had wrapped its own investigation after finding “no explosive material, and no terrorism nexus.”

The case is now a “traffic investigation” by the Niagara Falls Police Department — who believe it was likely either the driver suffering a medical incident or the car malfunctioning, sources told The Buffalo News.

The husband and wife in the car were identified by police as Kurt Villani and his wife Monica, both 53, who were on their way to see KISS in concert in Toronto, a gig that was canceled when frontman Paul Stanley came down with the flu.

The mayor of Niagra Falls, Robert Restaino, also told the New York Times that investigators are eyeing a possible mechanical failure that caused it to accelerate to at least 100 mph before flying over a fence and crashing into a border crossing booth.

Rainbow Bridge: Police identify couple killed in US-Canada border crash

Kurt Villani and his wife Monica Villani, both 53, died when their car became airborne and crashed on the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls.

They lived 10 miles (16km) south of the crash site in Grand Island, New York.

A US border agent was also injured in the incident on Wednesday, which prompted a large emergency response and the closure of four border crossings.

The security scare came on the eve of American Thanksgiving, one of the busiest travel days of the year.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul later ruled out terrorism.

The couple's family owns a chain of hardware and lumber stores in New York State.

In a statement released to CBC, the family said they were grateful for the "prayers, condolences and well wishes" they had received.

It is still unclear what caused the couple's vehicle to rapidly accelerate before it flew through the air and burst into flames.

The mayor of Niagara Falls in New York, Robert Restaino, told the New York Times on Thursday that the couple had been driving an older Bentley vehicle and were on their way to a concert in Canada, thought to be a Kiss show that was later cancelled due to illness in the band.

He added that police are investigating several possibilities behind the crash, including whether the car suffered a mechanical failure that caused it to accelerate.

The incident happened at around 11:30 local time (16:30 GMT) on Wednesday.

Gov Hochul said the car travelled at a "very high rate of speed", hurtling over an 8ft (2.4m) fence on the New York side of the border near a checkpoint.

The vehicle was "incinerated", she said, with nothing left but the engine. A registration plate was not even recovered............

The deadly high-speed crash that sparked panic at a Niagara Falls border checkpoint this week is being investigated as possible mechanical failure — despite it being a new $300,000 Bentley, police confirmed to The Post on Friday.

Driver Kurt Villani and his wife Monica, both 53, were killed instantly Wednesday when their 2022 Flying Spur literally took flight after hitting a barrier at around 100mph, crashing down in a huge fireball on the New York side of Rainbow Bridge.

It sparked a heightened state of alert, with several other border crossings shuttered — until the FBI confirmed that night that it had found “no explosive material, and no terrorism nexus.”

Niagara Falls cops are now investigating it as a “traffic investigation” — and looking at whether the luxury British car simply malfunctioned.

An earlier recall by the luxury British brand involved fears accelerator pedals could get stuck, but Bentley said it did not apply to the Villanis’ one.

“We’re investigating every issue,” police Superintendent John Faso told The Post Friday when asked about possible mechanical failure.
