Too many Republicans are prisoners of the fear of loss and losing. Ironically, this only causes them to lose more.
The best analogy I can make is the GOP behaves like former NFL head coach, Marty Schottenheimer. He was too quick to play Prevent Defense when he had the smallest of leads. The GOP Establishment does the same - they play to not lose.
The GOP Establishment would cynically play Primary voters like violins only to swing towards the Center or the Left in the General Election.
Unfortunately, too many GOP wanabees mistake cruelty for strength. Separating migrant children from their parents is unGodly. Abortion bans with no exceptions lack Christian compassion for those have experienced rape, incest, or a miscarriage. Sadism is not leadership.
GOP Leadership is Congress being independent and conservative when there is a GOP President.
The GOP sold its soul to carry Bush 43's contaminated water. We are still paying for the sins of those Republicans who collaborated with Bush '43 to lie their way into the 2003 Iraq War; expand Medicare to include prescriptions without price negotiations; and to bailout Wall Street Pirate Equity, Vulture Capital, and failed CEO's during the 2008 Financial Crisis.
The GOP will be rebuilt from the ground-up at the municipal, county, and state levels via competent administration of public resources for the benefit of the many, not the few or the one.
The GOP cannot be monolithic - what works in Alabama may not work in the Northeast or the West Coast. If the unifying principle of the GOP is a Federal abortion ban, the GOP will fail.
The GOP needs to unify around core governing principles, but leave matters of conscience to individuals.
This won't fly with the Billionaire Donor Class who see the country as chaotic and seek to impose their order upon the nation.
