Trump tells judge in fraud case to leave his children alone
by Sarah Fortinsky - 11/01/23 7:51 AM ET

Former President Trump railed against the judge overseeing his New York civil fraud case and told him to leave his children alone, in a post early Wednesday morning.

He also argued that there is enough evidence for the case to be thrown out.

“This Rigged Trial, brought by the Racist New York State A.G. Letitia James before Trump and developer Hating Judge, Arthur Engoron, which should have never been brought in that the so-called STAR WITNESS, SleazeBag Lawyer (for many people) Michael Cohen, admitted last week on the stand that he LIED,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, referencing his former personal lawyer.

“Therefore, on that fact alone, this Fake Case should be dismissed,” he added.

The former president claimed in his post that the financial statements from his businesses were actually lower than the true value — contrary to some of the testimony presented in the trial. He also reiterated the defense’s argument that there was a “disclaimer clause” on the statements and that banks were paid in full.

“There is no Victim (except me!). Leave my children alone, Engoron,” Trump added, addressing the judge. “You are a disgrace to the legal profession!”

Trump sons set for pivotal testimony in New York fraud case
by Ella Lee - 11/01/23 6:00 AM ET

Former President Trump’s adult sons are expected to take to the stand this week to testify about their roles in the Trump Organization as part of the sweeping New York fraud case putting the family’s business empire at risk.

Donald Trump Jr., Trump’s oldest child, and Eric Trump, the ex-president’s second son, are parties in the New York attorney general’s lawsuit, which claims the family’s business for decades falsely inflated and deflated the value of its assets to receive lower taxes and better insurance coverage.

The brothers, who are executive vice presidents of the Trump Organization, are expected to testify back-to-back, with Donald Trump Jr. taking to the stand Wednesday and Eric Trump testifying Thursday. Their testimony could offer critical insight into the company’s structure and their complicity in its fraud — or it could devolve into a political circus.

Trump fraud trial live updates: Don Jr. takes the stand at Manhattan courthouse

What to know about the Trump family's testimony

Donald Trump Jr. is expected to be asked about his involvement in financial statements that the New York attorney general alleges were grossly inflated.
Attorney General Letitia James' office claims that former President Donald Trump's children were "aware of, and knowingly participated in" a long-running scheme to falsely inflate the company's assets to land loans and insurance policies on more favorable terms than they were entitled to.
Eric Trump could testify today or tomorrow, while the former president and his daughter Ivanka are expected to take stand next week.
All of the family members have denied wrongdoing..............

Donald Trump Jr. says he had minor role in company's finances

Donald Trump’s son Donald Trump Jr. testified on Wednesday that he had little to do with financial practices at the heart of a New York civil fraud trial accusing the former U.S. president and his family businesses of inflating asset values to dupe lenders and insurers.

Donald Jr., an executive vice president at the Trump Organization and a co-defendant in the case, is the first of Trump’s adult children to testify, followed by Eric and Ivanka Trump. Their father is set to testify on Monday.

Wearing a blue suit and pink tie, Donald Jr. said he and Eric largely took over management of the company when their father assumed the presidency in 2017. But he said had little involvement in financial matters that are at the heart of the case. His testimony could continue into Thursday.

Donald Jr.'s testimony could be another flashpoint in a trial punctuated by sharp exchanges between lawyers and witnesses and heated arguments over the admissibility of evidence....................
