US troops targeted again by Iran-backed terrorist groups

An Iran-backed terrorist group launched another attack on US forces stationed in Iraq on Thursday, continuing a recent spate of rocket and drone attacks on American troops since the Israel-Hamas conflict broke out on Oct. 7, Pentagon spokesman Air Force Gen. Patrick Ryder said.

The Thursday attack, which Ryder described as "unsuccessful," occurred at Erbil Air Base. The spokesman said there were "no significant injuries or damage" sustained in the attack.

"I would tell you that between Oct. 17 and 26, US and coalition forces have been attacked at least 12 separate times in Iraq (and) four separate times in Syria by a mix of one-way attack drones and rockets," Ryder said. "Again, we will continue to revise those numbers as new information comes in."

Pentagon deploys 900 additional troops from US to Middle East

Approximately 900 troops stationed in the US are now deploying to the Middle East in response to the Hamas-Israel conflict and the continued attacks by Iran-backed terrorist groups on American forces in Iraq and Syria, Pentagon spokesman Air Force Gen. Patrick Ryder said Thursday.

The troops had previously been placed on "prepare to deploy" orders. They include a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense battery from Fort Bliss, Texas, Patriot batteries from Fort Sill, Okla., Patriot and Avenger batteries from Fort Liberty, N.C. and "associated air-defense headquarters elements" from Fort Bliss and Fort Cavazos, Texas.

Ryder did not say where in the Middle East the troops will be deployed, but said they will not be sent into Israel.

The Iranian foreign minister warned of “uncontrollable consequences” for the U.S. if its backing of Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza continues to expand.

“I say frankly to the American statemen who are now managing the genocide in Palestine that we do not welcome the expansion of the war in the region,” Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said in a United Nations address. “But I warn, if the genocide in Gaza continues, they will not be spared from this fire. It is our home and West Asia is our region.”

The war in Gaza began earlier this month after Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israeli towns, killing more than 1,400 people. Responding Israeli airstrikes have killed more than 6,700 Palestinians, according to the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry.

Iran has long been an ally of Hamas, supplying it with money, military training and weapons. The militant group is considered a terrorist organization in the U.S. and European Union.

At the start of the conflict, Hamas took about 200 people hostage, mostly Israeli civilians. Amir-Abdollahian said Hamas is ready to release those hostages and called on members to also support the freeing of about 6,000 Palestinians held in Israeli prisons.

Iran is a huge concern.

What's the choice though?  IF Israel doesn't continue moving forward, things will be even worse.

Hopefully Israel won't make some kind of 'deal' or 'treaty' with Palestine; that treaty will inevitably be broken.

It wouldn't be if we had a better President and Secretary of State.  While many question whether Hezbollah will open up a second front against Israel, we should make it clear that we have no qualms about opening up a third.  Unfortunately, there are Iranian spies at the highest levels of the US regime.  So they already know what cards we are holding.

Is there any country in the ME where our troops would be considered "safe"? I dare say no! Stop this insanity and keep our troops out of there! They're nothing more than targets to encourage escalation and war. Bait in other words.
