San Francisco paying $12,000 per month for homeless RVs while tech workers sleep in $700 ‘pods’

San Francisco is pouring millions of dollars into an RV park for the homeless, while young people trying to get a break in their careers are reduced to living in 4-feet high by 3.5-feet wide “pod” spaces for $700 a month.

The city opened a “safe parking site” at Candlestick Point in January 2022, which is home to 30 RVs — each of which cost the city $12,000 a month to keep there, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

The site, named the Bayview Vehicle Triage Center, has been recommended to be opened for another two years, which will cost the city at least $12.2 million.

Despite living rent-free and having 24/7 security, some residents at the RV park don’t enjoy it.

“It’s like living in a prison,” said Bayview resident Enrique Olivas. “I’ve been here for a year and it’s been difficult. There are so many rules, like I can’t park my truck inside. I’ve had to park my truck on the street. It’s already been broken into three times, so sometimes I sleep in my truck instead.”

Candlestick Point was where the SF Giants' first long-term home field was built. It was demolished several years after their new home ballpark was built. Neighboring Bayview and Hunters Point are not the fanciest parts of SF.

12 RVs ... that got, what, 15 or 20 Sacred Homeless off the sidewalks and out of the parks of SF?
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

That Yuba County project looks like it might be working OK, but it can only work if tightly managed and restricted to the, sadly, small % of people who are not seriously mentally ill and/or chemically dependent. Every day during my commute I drive by what happens to "tiny houses" groups that are not controlled. It's right near where the I-880 and SR87 freeways cross, not far from San Jose International Airport. If one looks at the area with GoogMaps Satellite View on can see that the "tiny houses" are almost obscured amidst blue tarps and bum trash.

Projects like the one in Yuba County can help some people, if people capable of holding down jobs and doing other aspects of ordinary life are chosen for the service. Those unable or unwilling will trash "tiny house" communities. Whether activists and courts will allow the necessary selectivity is, IMO, doubtful.
