Also, why would they blow it up in Gaza, if Israel was the target?

That mostly holds true if they capture a bomb before it explodes and they have fissile material to test. After it blows, not so much ( literally).

Don't they have to? Hezbollah, the islamoterrorists in Lebanon, are joining the fray. That makes them now enemy combatants, deserving of annihilation by Israel just as much as Hamas.

How would setting off a bomb in Gaza go after Israel?

Earlier, somebody suggested that Iran's "bomb" was already in Gaza and they were going to wait until a lot more Israeli soldiers entered the fray before they set it off.

My Thoughts on this weekend:

I am having a hard time writing coherently about the events because of the amount of emotion still involved. It was the worst terror attack in the modern history of Israel, including those that occurred during both Intifadas. As of writing this, the death toll is over 600. Given that Israel is a country of just over 9.3 Million people and the bodies are still being counted, this will end up being the equivalent of at least 10 9/11’s for the country. It was also easily the worst massacre of Jews in one day since World War II. We won't know the full details for weeks, but I also suspect that dozens of Americans will be among the casualties or hostages.

The level of failure here is unprecedented and a lot of people in the Israeli government and military will have to answer for it after the war is over. The images of dead women and children lying in the street and at bus stops will haunt me for a long time. These events have changed the Middle East for years to come as Israel must now accept again that they are fighting for their survival and cannot settle for anything less than full security for its citizens moving forward.

A few other scattered thoughts:

1) This was a choice by Palestinians in Gaza and now both sides will pay a heavy price for it. Israel took a very controversial step in 2005 by unilaterally withdrawing from Gaza and allowing Palestinians to govern themselves. This included Israel forcibly removing Jews from their homes to establish a clearer border and eliminate settlements. Since then, those Palestinians have had a choice between peace and prosperity or hate and terrorism. They chose the latter at every turn. They elected a terrorist group to rule over them. Instead of investing in hospitals, schools, or farms, they spent all their time focused on building terror tunnels, stockpiling Iranian missiles, and launching constant attacks.

That choice has also become the primary impediment to a permanent peace deal because the justified perception among Israelis now is that any land they give up or deals they make will just be used to stockpile weapons and prepare for more attacks against Israeli civilians.

2) The Biden administration has a lot to answer for here. Their entire approach to the region has been a failure. They restarted aid to Gaza without any conditions. They have continually enabled Iran, including with a recent deal that gave Iran $6 Billion extra to fund the very types of attacks and missile stockpiles we saw used this week. Finally, they have downplayed and ignored the scandal of their administration being compromised by an Iranian influence operation that connects back to the Iranian government. That Iran hostage deal was negotiated by Qatar, which is where the Hamas leadership lives in luxury while planning terrorist attacks against innocent civilians.

3) While it is true that reality is always complex, that does not mean that morality is relative. There is clarity between good and evil. There are real differences between those who value innocent life and those who want to destroy it. It is disheartening watching such an act of evil being celebrated by millions of people, but that's the reality we live in and we must face it head-on. We cannot be confused about who are the good guys and the bad guys. You can argue about different responses or levels of involvement, but Putin, Iran's regime, CCP, Hamas etc. represent evil and those they seek to undermine and destroy, while not perfect, are not comparable.

4) The early headlines have downplayed the severity and nature of the attack. MSNBC’s coverage all day on Saturday was ignorant and deplorable in trying to excuse the actions of the terrorists. Similarly, The New York Times actually published an article on the same day suggesting that the Gaza suffering from the Israeli blockade was the real problem. Now the coverage and reactions are inevitably pushing on Israel to accept a more muted response. The answer should simply be no. That expectation would never exist for any other country facing this type of attack. This is a full war and Israel must do whatever it takes to win it decisively and ensure the security of its citizens is protected moving forward. At a minimum, that means an end to Hamas as the governing entity in Gaza.

Now I pray for Israel to do what must be done quickly and with as much precision as possible. It will take a miracle to recover the numerous hostages because they were mostly taken to try to force Israel to rethink a proper response in Gaza, which they cannot do. But I will pray for such a miracle anyway.

The global instability that has sprung up since Biden has become POTUS will continue to worsen.  It is reported that dozens of Americans have been taken by Hamas, and why not when the USA is paying the terrorist nation of Iran $1.2 billion per captive.

This declaration of war on Israel is also a declaration of war on the west.  Anything less than our Navy being sent with the intent of helping Israel leveling the entire Gaza so that a cockroach could not live there is a betrayal to the civilized world.  This cannot end with just a negotiated peace, it MUST reflect the power of nations to destroy an enemy, something long ago lost by the mentality of those that run the USA.  1945 was the last year the USA knew how to fight a war correctly, everything else has been insanity.

I say tell the people of Gaza to flee or die.  Give them 72 or 96 hours to get out, and proceed to level the entirety of Gaza with the stated position that no one will ever live in that region again that is a follower of Islam.

Also, it is time to DEPORT ALL MUSLIMS IN THE USA WITHOUT A GREENCARD, for rest assured, it is only a matter of time before they launch operations here in the USA.

This is what happens when you have the so called leader of the free world who is DEAD FROM THE NECK UP.  CHAOS! CHAOS! CHAOS!  And we haven't begun to see the worst yet.

Anything less than the complete leveling of Gaza will guarantee a repeat or worse of what is happening once more.

The negotiating by the USA for any hostages should be simple.  Start with the 5th largest populated Palestinian city, and promise the dropping of a MOAB unless US hostages are released.  No release drop the bomb.  Make the same offer for the 4th largest, no release, drop the bomb, etc.  This is war, and the only way to deal with these vermin is to kill them.

Hamas refused a cease-fire in exchange for wounded and captured Israeli officers, Hazem Qassem said and said: "There is no question of a cease-fire and that this time we are going to the final victory."

The negotiations were led by Egyptian negotiators, and Anthony Blinken mediated in calming the tensions, to which "Hamas" replied that they had the initiative and that it would be buying time because they had received information that Israel had sent 80 percent of the artillery ammunition to Ukraine and they they have this knowledge that now Israel wants to "buy time", according to the "Wall Street Journal"
