The House Oversight Committee is holding its first hearing on the impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden at 10 a.m. Eastern time.

The hearing, titled “The Basis for an Impeachment Inquiry of President Joseph R. Biden Jr.,” is being conducted by the House Oversight Committee, and it will be focused on “constitutional and legal questions” related to allegations Biden was improperly involved in Hunter Biden’s business dealings, a committee aide told the Washington Examiner.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) announced an impeachment inquiry into Biden on grounds of corruption after several months of urging from conservative members of Congress. Some Republicans in swing states advised against it because they fear it may hurt their reelection chances.

If House Republicans go through with impeachment, Biden will be the fourth president in history to be impeached.

Joe Biden impeachment inquiry: Comer to show two dozen pieces of evidence at first hearing

The Republican-led House Oversight and Accountability Committee will on Thursday hold its first hearing on the impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, during which members plan to present more than two dozen items as evidence to support their case.

The items will include "e-mails, text messages, bank records, and testimony of Biden business associates," according to excerpts of Chairman James Comer's (R-KY) opening remarks.

Comer will argue the evidence reveals Joe Biden’s "corruption and abuse of public office" as he and two other chairmen, Reps. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Jason Smith (R-MO), continue to vet allegations that Biden inappropriately used his authority as a public official for personal profit.

While Jordan happens to also be a member of the Oversight Committee, Smith is not and will waive into the hearing as the trio continues to lead the inquiry.

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) had some choice words for Democrats trying to undercut the impeachment inquiry.

"This is complete and total hypocrisy this morning," Mace began.

"In 2017, the Joe Biden family teamed up with Chinese company CEFC to make millions off of granting access to Joe Biden. Hunter even arranged for Joe Biden to share office space with the CCP-aligned company CEFC," she continued, referring to the Chinese Communist Party.

A key sticking point for Democrats during the hearing has been the fact that most of the allegations against the Biden family deal with conduct that did not occur while Joe Biden was president.
