Dave McCormick Announces 2024 Run for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania

Republican Businessman Dave McCormick announced his 2024 Pennsylvania U.S. Senate candidacy on Thursday, hoping to unseat Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) after losing the 2022 GOP Senate primary by less than 1,000 votes.

McCormick is a graduate of West Point Military Academy, served in combat in Iraq, and was the CEO of Bridgewater Associates before his entry into politics.

McCormick addressed his supporters at a campaign announcement event at the Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Senate race will be closely watched, as it has the potential to determine which party will take control of the Senate in 2025.

“My fellow Pennsylvanians: walking through the halls of this great museum, I’m reminded America is the most exceptional country in the world, and its birthplace is right here in the great commonwealth of Pennsylvania,” McCormick said as he announced his candidacy. “And Pittsburgh, this remarkable city, is the industrial engine that made it a global superpower.”

McCormick’s campaign announcement came after he finished second place in the 2022 Pennsylvania Republican Senate primary, losing to Mehmet Oz, who eventually lost to Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA).

McCormick slammed Sen. Casey repeatedly for being a “rubber stamp” to President Joe Biden’s agenda that is leading America through a decline “economically, militarily, spiritually.”

McCormick would’ve likely defeated Fetterman, but GOP voters obeyed Trump instead and nominated  Oz.

As I recall,  he wasn't what most of us might consider 100% a "true" conservative, but was a lot closer than Oz ever would have been.

We need senators with moral clarity

OPINION:

On Oct. 7, Hamas terrorists rampaged through Israeli towns near the Gaza border, murdered more than 1400 people, including Americans and other foreign nationals, and kidnapped at least 150 men, women and children. The deaths from that attack represent the largest number of Jews killed in one day since the Holocaust. The testimonies and graphic evidence of what happened in those communities are horrifying and heartbreaking.

Now, Israel is at war. American Jews are grieving and distressed. Many of us know people who were killed or kidnapped, or we have family or friends whom the Israel Defense Forces has called up to defend their country. American Jews want to know that their elected officials have the moral clarity to support Israel‘s fight terrorism.

Sadly, Pennsylvanians looking to Sen. Bob Casey for that moral clarity are not finding it. His past positions are troubling, especially considering what has happened in Israel. His voting record shows that when he has had the opportunity to help starve Hamas and other terrorist groups of funding and training for their evil, murderous activities, Mr. Casey failed to take action.

Mr. Casey did not support legislation to impose sanctions on Iran and Hamas that would have stopped money from flowing into terrorist coffers.  ...
